As salaamu wa alaykum,

Desis would know what Paan and paan masala is, usually made with betel leaf and mixed with tobacco and areca nut [supari] it acts as a stimulant usually had after food, and all of that is made in a jiffy, experienced hands would often not take more than a minute to make it, chewed and run its course, its spitted in dustbins, but mostly corners of walls, relegated to the ground and trampled upon by the people who treat it worse than trash and are afraid of its stains on their clothes when just a few minutes back that same mix transported them to a different heaven from the rigours of this life.

Tabligh, my dear brothers and sisters, has today become the paan masala of the Ulamah's and the awaam and the reasons why I have taken that as an example.

I wanted to write this since a few weeks but I haven't much time to write in a manner I originally wanted, so let me tell some of the things anyways...as to what really is happening.

1. The Ulamah's refusal to give the work of tabligh the seriousness it deserves.

- they would know that only part of it was advice but much of it was rant and more than that, plain mockery of the work, how then should one look at his writings where he questions Did Imam Abu Hanifa went for 3 days and 40 days and that tabligh can have a different tarteeb? And Mufti saheb is actually encouraging people to leave even if they aren't connected with the local markaz.

Before going further, let me say, these are the same people including that on sunniforum.com who say Islah can't happen without a Shaikh of Tasawwuf, and their refusal to admit that millions have had their islah done through tabligh.

Can I ask them Ulamah included, and this is my main point, there are experts in every field, but why aren't the experts in tabligh recognized, if one wants to learn about tasawwuf, one goes to a Shaikh, one needs a fatwa, one goes to a mufti - the reasons being these are people who have spent years studying the part and have gained some sort of experience in that respective field.

Yet we find when it comes to tabligh, the people who have spent years in the effort are not consulted when it comes to matters regarding...tabligh.

Tabligh and the tablighi jama't is being treated as paan masala.

a. When you say Imam Abu Hanifa didn't go out for 3 days and 40 days - was Imam Abu Hanifa bayt to a Shaikh of Tasawwuf? And if he didn't - are you saying his islah didnt happen?

b. If you say Islah can't happen without a Shaikh of Tasawwuf, why is it wrong to say tabligh can't happen without the tarteeb of Nizamuddin?

c. Why is it implied and constantly drilled into the minds of people, mostly simple tablighis, that they have to go take bayt upon a Shaikh of Tasawwuf to get their islah done, or otherwise they are missing out on something, why is it not said to the same Shaikh or even his mureeds that they are mssing out on something if they don't do tabligh? Why call this fanaticism? Isn't going door to door a sunnah of the Final Prophet [peace be upon him) ?

d. The members on pseudosufi sunniforum.com were brought a speech my Maulana Sa'ad where he said tabligh has even Islah -

If Hazrathji was disagreed with then no problems, but he was criticized in the most disgusting manner by a very senior member, the post of his open to read for many days was NOT deemed to be unfit by the mods and open to public reading. Not long after to make people doubt his words and to belittle him, there was even a post which said Hazrathji had Sihr - the post is still available and the mods didn't see anything wrong with the post.

e. When I brought to notice an article in which Qari Muhammad Tayyib, yes, first mohtamim of Deoband Waqf, who said the same thing, the mods and members closed the thread without any replies and or moved the thread to private forums. Here's the article: docs.google.com/file/d/0B5zajTyfeN-BVVBGeEJTTDR2VkU/edit?...

f. Maulana Sa'eed Ahmed Khan Saheb Makki [rh] has clearly said people that this work, the organized work from Nizamuddin, if someone doesn't connect with, he WILL be bereft of its unique blessings. - I will bring the proof. But don't forget to read this:

Totally agree with you, tabligh being bashed around due to lack of open-mindedness, this criticism (or so called "Nasiha") is more likely to have a negative impact on the general masses rather than help "reform" individuals. No one likes to be criticised including those criticising.

Imam Ash-Shafi'i once said, "Advise me when I am alone, and avoid giving advice in public, for advising in public is a type of criticizing that I will not be pleased to hear."

JazakAllah Khair for the quote of hadrath Imam Shafi'ee.

One more thing to note is the fact that in tabligh there are no titles, everyone in it says we are in a work in progress, but in tasawwuf, you have khilafats and what not, and yet Ulamah and the laymen tend to compare people in those respective efforts on the same level.

The brother is referring to the effort of dawah as tabligh because there is no such thing as tabligh jamaat, Allah calls this ummah the best Nation because of dawah and belief in Allah not the best jamaat. The word tablighi jamaat really annoy me!

of course it is. it is a mix of tabligh and tarbiyyah. but it is not the only tabligh. there are many other forms of tabligh and many other organisations that are carrying out tabligh in different forms. in my locality some brothers have organised a group called sawt. they organise bayans, literature, dawah stalls, dawah over the internet, in colleges and universities, they organise food drives for old and deprived people, etc. mashallah they have only been around for a few months but they have begun to make an impact across the UK. they are under the consultation of local ulama and others who are experienced in tabligh and dawah.

Calm down. None of the efforts of tabligh need the likes of you to defend them. They are fine, الحمد لله.

You are just exposing your own lack of Islah.

naasihaa mat kar naseehat, dil mera gabraawehe. Mey sumjoohu usko dushmon jo mujhe samjaawehe

If tabligh is truly your route to Islah, then you must need to spend more time.

Anonymous wrote:

but you must have kashf or something to conclude that by just reading a few of my posts.

May Allah grant them ease. Aameen.

Thats the point I'm trying to make, wanna learn about tabligh then go the tablighis.

Don't go to the Sufi's and don't go the Mufti's until and unless they themlselves have experience in tabligh and dawah.

absolutely agreed. and there is no other group that can surpass tabligh jamaat in experience and results in the field of tabligh.

it would be great if all the various groups that work on the different aspects of the deen could work under one mashwera, and apply their particular expertise where and when needed. i believe this was done in the time of moulana ilyas رضي الله عنه where jamaats not only went in khuruj but sometimes were also instructed to spend time in a khanqah.

see shaikh, after all this time we have known each other, we CAN agree on some things after all :P

may allah protect and guide you in everything. please remember me in your duas.
