Significance of 130 years age

Assalaamu 'Alaykum

I have seen the muridin of a specific Shaykh making du'a that Allah grant him a life of 130 years. Does anyone know any significance for this specific kind of du'a. Is there any precedence for this in the life of the Sahabah, the Salaf, the Akabirin?

Really? Not 129 or 131 but specifically 130? Is this Shaykh or his Mureeds happen to be Sufees and practise Tassawuff?

Would I be correct to say that the Sunnah is to make du'a for long life, without adding x years?

Asslamo Allaikum,

In general I would think so but those who are adding 130 years should be asked about its significance in specific. If its not Sunnah and some sort of Tassawuff practise then they should clarify and contextualise it.

Wa 'alaykum al-Salam

I think if anyone has come across anything similar to this in the works of the Akabirin or any other great scholars or mashayikh of the past then they should let us know here.

If any such precedence does not exist and this is only linked to some kind of Tasawwuf practice then would it not be regarded as ghulu' and hero-worship, exaggeration... Just a thought.

might be best to ask the person who made the du'a....there may be a reason (or an explanation) and on the hand there may no reason at all...otherwise is making a mountain out of a molehill of the issue...may Allah subhaanahu wata'ala grant the said Shaykh a looong life with 'aafiyat, aameen

It is not one person but rather a whole group of people who make the du'a and I taught if one of them do reads this then they can comment on the significance of 130 years or if such precedence exists. And I have intended no disrespect to the Shaykh and may Allah lengthen his shadow over us.
