Asslamo Allaikum,
This is just my uneducated opinion and Maulana Yasin needs to double check this. There are two issues to be discussed here:
Dawud b. 'Amir b. Sa'd b. Abu Waqqas reported on the authority of his father that while he was sitting along with 'Abdullah b. 'Umar, Khabbab, the owner of Maqsura, said: Ibn 'Umar, do you hear what Abu Huraira says that he heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) say:" He who goes out with the bier when taken out from its residence and offers prayer for it and he then follows it till it is buried, he would have two qirats of reward, each qirat being equivalent to Uhud; and he who, after having offered prayer, (directly) came back would have his reward (as great) as Uhud"? Ibn 'Umar sent Khabbab to 'A'isha in order to ask her about the words of Abu Huraira (and also told him) to come back to him (Ibn 'Umar) and inform him what 'A'isha said. (In the meanwhile) Ibn 'Umar took up a handful of pebbles and turned them over in his hand till the messenger (Khabbab) came back to him and told (him) that 'A'isha testified (the statement of) Abu Huraira. Ibn 'Umar threw the pebbles he had in his hand on the ground and then said: We missed a large number of qirats. [Muslim]
Q:) But is it Haram or Makrooh or Haram to transport the body to be near relatives if there is no fear of rupture or violation in the four (4) Madhabs?
A:) Not that I know of, specially when the train journey is less then 3 hours away!
Shaykh Maulana Yusuf Kandhalwi (RA)'s body was transported from Pakistan to India because of political reasons because there was a lot of turmoil at the time and remember that India-Pakistan went to full blown war within a few months.

Asslamo Allaikum,
Points 2 (explicitly) & 3 (implicitly) are mentioned over and over again in almost all of the books in which this incident is described.
The answer given is incomplete because the question is weird and ambigous. The art of getting a Fatwa is in asking the question.
The question should have been:
Q:) What is the Sunnah of burial and transporting the body? Can the body be transported under abnormal circumstances as done with the body of HazratJee Maulana Yusuf (RA) and authorised by the Ulamah? What conditions are needed to authorise transport of the body away from its location of death?

It could be or it could be trying to find a reason for the actiosn of Ulamah. I will tell you a story which I wrote on Sunniforum years ago.
My uncle (Mom's brother) went for Umrah and he heard of a Shaykh so he went looking for him with his wife. When he got to the massive apartment building he saw that the lift was only being used by the Shaykh and although his wife was partially disabled they made them climb the stairs. He immediately felt his heart turn against the Shaykh thinking what kind of Shaykh is this whose Mureeds would stop a woman from riding in the lift?
When they met the Shaykh in private, he couldn’t hold it back and asked the story about the lift.
Shaykh (Mufti) Aashiq Ilahi BulandSheri (RA) replied, “I made Hijrah to the Prophet’s city in Madina from India with no money. A Saudi man insisted on giving us this building and passed away shortly thereafter and left no money for the upkeep and maintenance and I also don’t have any money. I have 3 sons and we have divided up the building and I have taken the top floor as they have small children and stairs are not safe for the children and women folk to go up and down many times a day. It so happened that my knees are affected and I can no longer climb and down the stairs and this lift is my only way to get to Prophet’s Mosque so I use it 2-3 a day and with care. My sons are insisting for us to move to a different floor but how can I inconvenience them over myself?”
At this point my uncle was ashamed and feeling guilty that he suspected something else.
Then Shaykh (Mufti) Aashiq Ilahi BulandSheri (RA) smiled and said, “Alhumdolillah, you actually asked me the matter about the lift but most people would come here and look at an old man living it large who is supposed to be a Shaykh of Tassawuff, won’t ask and leave with a suspecting heart!”
P.S: The story was someting to that affect and I am recalling it to the best of my memory. The point is that when consider the war, politics and transport of a few hours the scenario isn't significant as its made out to be.

[quote="abu mohammed"]Please note, this (embalming) would be done in cases where the body is flown to another destination. The route to and from Pakistan would be by road or train, especially in those days. Nowadays, it has become a trend to fly even short distances and these people who put their deceased through this process should fear Allah.
[quote="ummi taalib"] From the cases I've heard about there is no "quick" procedure for this. The whole process takes from a few days to even a week before the body is finally laid to rest abroad. Thousands of pounds are spent on the whole process of embalming, transportation and the family accompanying the body. Also the Janaaza salaat is performed twice, once here and once abroad. All of this is against the Sunnah and I feel we should be trying to educate those who practice insha Allah and not spend time in futile discussions.
110% not true. Embalming is not necesarily done and I can 110% confirm this, some funeral homes do it and some don't.
It also does not take a week to get the body from UK to Pakistan and buried, it can be done in less then 48 hours.
Moving the body is against Sunnah and delaying the burial is also against Sunnah but the issue about embalming and delay is not a fact in UK.
If I was 99.99% right and 0.01% wrong I would admit it.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
Please wait...
