I'm not a fan of malls. I'm not promoting malls. I don't frequent the malls nor do I plan to go there on any regular basis for "pass times" sake. My post is for those who happen to be there for whatever reason. Allah is the Judge and no one else. You cannot judge anyone who happens to be in a mall and it's Salah time as being in a place of Ghaflah.

What about those that are travelling? How can they travel at Salah time? Is that Ghaflah too? What was so important about a trip or a holiday or site seeing? Or is that a necessity with no alternative? How do you know the reason of someone being in a "mall" is not necessity? How can you generalise and put this down to Ghaflah of Salah times?

If your issues are with "malls" in particular then yes I'd join in and agree with you and list a hundred things that are clearly and visibly Haraam in malls but everything has its place. This is about praying Salah no matter where you are. Not about "not praying" in the Masjid.

Prayer rooms in malls are a blessing, imagine a not too practising muslim sees a book in the prayer room and that becomes a source of hidayah, imagine a sister sees all covered women and the recognises the importance of hijab,
Salah represents Islam, imagine a non muslim e
Lnters out of curiousity and That becomes the source of hidayah for her? There are toi many benefits, biggest one is that one gets a peaceful place where one may bow to the divine.

Good thread masha'Ala, got a question though, aren't you supposed to pray standing when you can ?

I remember once I prayed in my car and I was told you have so much room outside, why didnt you pray outside standing ? Wouldn't some of the examples in this thread such as in phone booths, sitting in coaches, trains etc, fall into this category ?

Would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me.

Respected brother jinn,
Many women can do qiyam and can sit on the floor and pray but they dont because of a minor problem, that doesnt mean that they r doing the right thing.
Many people do many impermissible things, that doesnt make that permissible.

There are six Farz in namaaz.

1. TAKBEERE TAHRIMA.
2. QIYAAM (standing position).
3. QIRAAT (reciting of at least three aayats or one long aayat of the Quraan.
4. RUKU (to bow down).
5. Both the SAJDAHS (prostrate).
6. QAA'DAH AKHEERAH (to sit so long at the end of the last Rakaat that one can read the TASHAHHUD).
