The whole Earth is a Masjid, But......I never knew I'd pray in these places.

Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The entire earth has been made a place of prayer (masjid) except for the graveyards and the bathroom.”

Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 317

Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Ibn Taymiyyah

This is an interesting topic (for me) since I've prayed in places I would not do under normal circumstances.

Certain circumstances arise where time is running out and we have to pray but how and where is a huge obstacle some times.

Saudi divers build world's first-ever underwater mosque
Monday, May 07, 2012

A group of private Saudi divers said they had built what they described as the first underwater mosque in history and that they performed prayers inside it just after it was completed, according to a newspaper.

The divers used massive plastic pipes filled with sand to construct the symbolic mosque under the water off the northwestern town of Tabuk close to the border with Jordan.

Here are some great examples

I would appreciate it if you can share some of your experiences (even if they have been mentioned by someone else). Give brief intro into where and why rather than just saying where.

Jazakallahu Khair.

Winter is the time when the Salah are so close together. In such times, it is hard to get around and get to do Salah properly, especially if you are working out and about.

Many times we get stuck outside and find it very difficult to pray or even fear that we may miss the prayer altogether if we don't pray it there and then.

As before, I was running very late and was not able to get home or to a Masjid before the time of Zohar had finished and the time of Asar had almost entered. What do I do? Luckily I knew the direction of the Qiblah (Thanks to the Qiblah direction thread) and I managed to pray Zohar sitting on a Bus and finished just in time for Asar to start. I have come across this kind of situation a few times and find my self praying in the back of a van, a car and even a bus.

There are plenty more places that I will InshaAllah share with you, but I would love to hear of your experiences. I hope I'm not the only one who is always running out of time or stuck in the most awkward places.

Im sorry but when I read this i didnt think MashaAllah or anything, I thought what a waste of money, Typical arab style...... more showing off than actual good intention.......Allah knows best.

I thought, what about all those masjids that are struggling to raise money for an extension or renovations and here you have these people throwing money away.

There was a reason behind them building the masjid under water.

These brothers do a lot of agriculture and deep sea work and spend a long time under water. For them to keep coming up to the boat or land takes too much of their time and then they have to dive back down all the way to continue. This way it is alot ssimpler for them to just pray where they are.

They haven't spent millions to build the structure, all they have done is fit a few pipes together.

When I go to work, my job is not office based, I'm always out and about too.

The first thing I/we do is plan the work and where we will do Salah.

I was once on a building site and I didn't have my car with me so I had to find a place to offer my Salah. The whole building was being renovated and there were people working in almost every room. Eventually the best thing we could do is find a big plaster board and lay that down on the floor and take turns in praying. Alhumdulillah, no time wasted (even though I would not call it time wasting, but you know what I mean).

We offer Salah on many building sites and continue with our work.

A couple of weeks ago we had made plans to go away somewhere and whilst we were out, (my wife and I) we delayed Zohar Salah to just before Asar Salah. This way, we made our way to the Masjid and prayed Zohar and waited a few minutes for Asar to start and then prayed Asar. Since it is winter Maghrib comes very quick. At Maghrib time we were very far from any Masjid. As normal, we walked around to find somewhere to offer Maghrib and then I saw a photo booth and remembered this thread, www.muftisays.com/forums/people-s-say/7010/prayer-booth.html and Alhumdulillah, we turned the chair towards Qiblah and offered Maghrib in privacy in a public place. The feeling of being able to pray anywhere we want in a non Muslim country and non Muslim environment is just beautiful, MashaAllah.

I was to be on site for a couple of hours which ended to be 4 hours. (It took alot longer because the job was to be done inside a small hole in the wall, on my knees) Anyways, I had to remove all the unwanted equipment and install a comms cabinet and tidy the mess. Whilst this was going on, the phones and internet had to go down, therefore no staff were present on site except for the receptionist. After a while the receptionist decided to go out for and asked me to close the windows and the doors behind me if I had left before she came back. She also told me that one of the directors may come in to do some work, others I was not to let anyone into the offices.

My dilema:

The job was in central London where we are able to park our cars on a Pay and Display parking bay. We have this new system in London where we can park the car and make payment for the car over the phone with a registered bank card. Anyways, I had originally parked and paid for 2 hours and then added another hour making it 3 hours. Now I had 1 hour left to add, I still had to complete the work AND I still had to pray Zohar.

I was stuck, because the parking limit was only 4 hours and I could only pay for one more hour and then I had to leave site and collect my car, and if I did, then there was no way for me to get back in the office.

What do I do?

I layed a out a piece of plastic on the floor and prayed Zohar at the reception desk hoping the director would not just walk in. Alhumdulillah, I managed to complete my work, tidy the mess and leave without missing Zohar. And I also saved my self from getting a parking ticket, (which is nothing compared to missing 1 salah)

The receptionist then walked in 5 minutes before I had to leave, and Alhumdulillah I was able to get to my car in time to get back to the office to offer Asar Salaah.

Excellent, MashaAllah. May Allah reward you and make it even more easier for you.

Jazakallah for sharing, by sharing your experience, it gives people like me more options and ideas of where I can pray when I get stuck in a sittuation.

Many years ago at University, I was sitting in an exam hall giving an exam in Maths, (not my best topic, but one of my favs). Anyways, I had finished the exam with an hour left so I just sat there and my teacher wouldnt let me go. (She had a Muslim name, Shia I think). She insisted that I stayed and reviewed my papers or sit there and pray. So I asked her if I could offer my Salah at the back of the room, at first she said no, so then I said, "If I asked to go to the loo, you would let me". She got my point and let me go to the back of the Exam hall and pray Zohar.

Alhumdulillah, the feeling was great, all the pressure, the sweaty hands, heat etc vanished. I got back to my desk very relaxed and went over my papers again. Alhumdulillah, it went well.

What happened next was brilliant. The other brothers got up to pray one at a time and they felt overwhelmed and relaxed. We all loved the feeling. Our non Muslim friends were happy for us and asked how in the world we could spare even a minute and still complete the exam with less pressure. Alhumdulillah.

MashaAllah brother.

This thread is not, as some would think, about showing off. Its a great way of sharing your experience and letting others know that there are no excuses. Normal people like us can pray anywhere, Alhumdulillah. Imagine what would happen when we all do it together. These kuffar would be seeing Muslims in action all over the place InshaAllah.

Brother rizmalek, you got laughed at at a petrol station, but these very people will be witnesses in your favour on judgement day.

I got laughed at once in a Muslim wedding. The wedding was in a school type of place with a huge field. Many many years ago, I took my little brother with me far into the fields and we prayed Zohar in jamaat. On our return, we got mocked by the local Muslims. (we were in a different city outside London)

The feeling was great, many years later, I saw the same people who Alhumdulillah have learnt a lesson about salah and now also pray.

It is very strange when we see Muslims acting all dumb when you say to them that I need to pray my salah, they look at you and think "show off" and then to top it up, they give us all there good deeds by back biting us, Alhumdulillah, even more reward.

I have also come across a few who have never felt so embarrassed about not being able to pray and then Alhumdulillah, they ask many questions regarding wudhu, Qiblah, shoes, slippers etc etc.

This simple act of salah can open the doors for others too. Can you imagine how much reward you will get if someone is encouraged by your actions.
