W-Salam Imam Bashar,

Welcome to the forum.

Science is evolving and the Deen of Allah (SWT) is ABSOLUTE & PERFECT so when something is mentioned in Islam science may eventually come to realise its benefit or may never develop to such an extent but our criteria is to follow Islam and the what to do with a new born baby is listed here. For example two common things which Islam emphasisied 1400+ years science is just now catching up and confirming:

  1. Good Name: Islam taught us to give the best meaning name to the baby and Science has recently discovered links between name and personality
  2. Washing Hands: Islam emphasised washing hands frequently particularly before and after eating but science has discovered the link in infection prevention in the last 2-3 decades

So our intention should be to follow Sunnah.

Jazakullah Khairun

Fundoo man, this means Shakespeare's quote "Whats in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" stands abrogated. :-) Anyways can bro Muadh provide a link to the study on the connection between names and personalities? jazakAllah khair.
