He is housebound right now has advanced stage COPD. Which is a ...lung condition is on Oxygen alot of the time. His lungs are ultra sensitive because of his condition, smell of perfume, cleaning products, the smells on the road all trigger an attack of breathlesssness . Eating is a challenge makes it very difficult to breathe.
Even if he was healthy I dont think he would be interested in taking the step to go to masjid or meet practicing muslims.
His interest in Islam has not been due to his personal quest or inclination...He enjoys talking about religion, and philosophy. So every time the topic would come up I would inject something about Islam into the conversation.
I gave him dawah booklets.
And have been showing clips of lectures on Islam usually by speakers who are converts.
So he seems to know Islam is the Truth or atleast gives that impression and gets really angry about negative news stories about muslims.... But is reluctant to embrace it fully for whatever reason. ( or maybe he has just read the booklets and watches the Islamic clips out of respect and close friendship to me I am not too sure..Allah knows best.)
Reminds of a talk by Abdur Raheem Green has been involved in Dawah for many years. That his father who was told everything about Islam but only got past his reluctance decades later... and finally embraced Islam on his death bed, in hospital.
An update on my above post. I have been regularly been sharing videos of converts of Islam with my neighbour.
He today of his own volition stated that he has come to the conclusion
"That there is no God but one and he also believes that Muhammad was indeed his messenger." I told him he was already muslim without realising it. He is still reticent to formally pronounce Shahada and considers himself a non-muslim but has requested an English translation of the Quran.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
