However, we all know that not all HFA is haram. We know that some of the chicken is mechanically slaughtered, hence haram.
But how about the beef? Many halal sweets contain halal beef gelatine, which has been certified by HFA.
Any ideas please?

As per the visits, Please do not take my word for it. I read tens (as in hundreds) of pages so I am not certain where it was read. However, below is direct from their site.
http://www.halalfoodauthority.co.uk/support-suppliers.html

[quote="HFA"]Responsibility (HFA)
The HFA auditors / inspectors at reasonable and agreed intervals, audit and inspect specifications, ingredients and if required the plants from where their providers are obtaining the items.
Audit / Inspection
The HFA audit for endorsement purposes comprises of checks of ingredients, method and process of manufacture, labelling, storage and most of all, method of sanitization, cleaning of equipment and compliance of the current HACCP food and hygiene laws in vogue.
In the above it clearly says "Agreed Intervals" & not what I said of unexpected visits.

This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
