Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon

According to Sky News

US-born al Imam, Anwar al Awlaki was hit in an airstrike in Yemen's northern al Jawf province that borders Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni defence ministry said.

A security official said four other people who were killed with him were suspected al Qaeda members.

It was not immediately clear if Yemeni forces had carried out the raid or if al Shaykh Awlaki had been killed by a US drone strike.

A US drone aircraft targeted him in May but missed him.

I'm reading the reports too and it's full of "Alleged", "Implicated", "Suspected" or "Known to have"

No proof? Americans, enjoy the so called "Freedom" you ignorantly showcase because your government is slowly chipping away at your human rights and there will soon be no such thing as a right to a fair trial in the name of The Terrorism Act. In fact, it's been gone for a while now.

CNN wrote:
Al-Awlaki was killed about 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the Yemeni town of Khashef, east of the capital city of Sanaa, Mohammed Basha, a Yemen Embassy spokesman in Washington D.C., told CNN. Basha said the operation was launched at about 9:55 a.m. local time, though he did not say what type of operation was conducted or how al-Awlaki was killed.

A senior U.S. administration official confirmed al-Awlaki was dead, though no details surrounding the operation that led to the cleric's death were released. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to CNN. The official was not authorized to release the information.

Born in New Mexico, al-Awlaki preached at a mosque in Virginia before leaving the United States for the Middle East.

Of course, as usual doesnt seem to be any proof. However, if it is the case, Shaykh رضي الله عنه went how he preached. He didnt just talk and talk and then sit back, he actually put it into action!

If this is true then Shaykh (RA) has achieved the ultimate triumph and attained the ultimate success and may Allah (SWT) give him Jannatul-Firdaus (Ameen).

Shaykh Anwar al-Awlaqi Most Likely Alive

More than 25 leaders from the Awaliq tribe, the tribe of Anwar Awlaqi, reached Jawf on Sunday to see the remains of the body of Anwar, however, no body resembling his was found.

Amongst those who went to the province was his father, a former minister and university dean.

Tribal leaders in Jawf told the family that Awlaqi was not killed in the attack.

Tribes in the province say there is no proof that Awlaqi was amongst the killed and DNA tests on the remains of the five killed can prove that.

An al-Qaeda senior leader also denied the claims that Awlaqi was killed and said that he will soon come out with a statement to prove that.

The Awaliq tribe has not officially announced the death of their fellow tribesman, Anwar.

Yemen and US announced that Awalqi was the prime target in the US drone attack last Friday.

'Two weeks after the U.S. killed American citizen Anwar Awlaki with a drone strike in Yemen - far from any battlefield and with no due process - it did the same to his 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, ending the teenager's life on Friday along with his 17-year-old cousin and seven other people.
News reports, based on government sources, originally claimed that Awlaki's son was 21 years old and an Al Qaeda fighter (needless to say, as Terrorist often means: "anyone killed by the U.S."), but a birth certificate published by The Washington Post proved that he was born only 16 years ago in Denver. As The New Yorker's Amy Davidson wrote: "Looking at his birth certificate, one wonders what those assertions say either about the the quality of the government's evidence - or the honesty of its claims - and about our own capacity for self-deception."
The boy's grandfather said that he and his cousin were at a barbecue and preparing to eat when the U.S. attacked them by air and ended their lives.'

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون

What is better than:

1) Gaining knowledge
2) Giving da'wa
3) Going Jihad
4) Dying shaheed

I pray all of this is a proof for the sheikh and not against him. May Allaah accept his efforts and give him the jannah he was working for.

May Allah unite them both in Jannah and grant the family sabr.

" Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord.
They rejoice in the bounty provided by Allah: and with regard to those left behind, who have not yet joined them (in their bliss), the (martyrs) glory in the fact that on them is no fear, nor have they (cause to) grieve".
