''Big Ben clock tower'' renamed Elizabeth Tower

27 June 2012

The Big Ben clock tower, one of London's best-known landmarks, has been renamed Elizabeth Tower as a diamond jubilee gift to Queen Elizabeth II. The House of Commons Commission made the decision Monday for the tower that was completed in 1859, but no official renaming has yet been scheduled, according to the British Parliament's website.

Though everyone has been calling the decorative Parliament tower Big Ben, the nickname actually applies only to the Great Bell, the very one that strikes the time. (The theories on whom the bell was named for point to two possibilities: Sir Benjamin Hall, a public works commissioner, and Ben Caunt, a heavyweight boxing champ.) Technically, the tower was just called the Clock Tower.

So now Elizabeth Tower joins Victoria Tower, another Parliament high point that was renamed for Queen Victoria in 1860 to commemorate her 60-year reign.

Translated from french: http://www.daffah.fr/parfums/49-al-m...de-makkah.html

10ml (thats two tea spoons full) of perfume, I wonder how much it will cost. You'll be paying more for the packaging and name more than anything else.

Is it possible for these streams of pointless sarcastic and negative comments by guests be either deleted or not be authorised, on all threads.

It's amazing isn't it, the same person (confirmed) tells us on a different thread;

nowadays majority of the youth spends more time on the internet/phone than praying. Something needs to be done, so that we spend more time praying. Especially quran since its the best form of worship.

[quote="Critic1"]The reason i dont agree with this is because its a waste of time, when instead we can be earning alot of reward by praying Quran.

Yet has the time to log onto the internet after 1am and between 6.30 - 7.15am for 2 consecutive days and make silly remarks on 3 threads. That time should've been spent reciting the Qur'an or performing Tahajjud. Sounds very hypocritical and dishonest to me. I hope I'm wrong, but actions speak louder than words.

Appaling, wouldnt be surprised if some of its shares are owned by zions!
Why are some people so amazed with 'views' of the tower, IMAM ABU HANIFAH RA THE GREAT FAQIH CLASSIFIED IT MAKRUH TO RESIDE IN HARAM AS IT WOULD LEAD TO ISTIKHFAAF(belittling or thinking it to be some thing common) OF THE KABAA. ALLAHU AKBAR, MY POINT IS NOT TO STAMP A SHAREE RULING ON THIS TOWER BUT..... SUCH PEOPLE HAVE NEVER COMMENTED ON THE EXHALTNESS OF KAABA...'and he who holds great the signs of allah, indeed it is an act of piety'(surah hajj)
