The Ruling on saying Jummah Mubarak

Asalamalikum All.

can someone tell me whats the ruling on saying jummah mubarak?i get text messages getting them,some say its bidah,deep withen my heart i dont feel its bidah..please explain..jazakallah.

Jummah is an Eid for the Muslims. But if there is no evidence for saying it, just give Salams!

The problem will be when it becomes habitual, then people will think it is from the Sunnah, and this will most definately become a Biddah.

Also, what about Monday's? We don't celebrate birthdays at all, even of the Prophet (saw) but in order for us to celebrate it in another manner, we have the option to fast on Mondays just like the way the Prophet (saw) did, and for this very reason, that He (saw) was born on Monday. So wouldn't it be just as logical to say Monday Mubarak?

No, it wouldn't and it will become a Biddah to do so.

If anything new enters Islam after the Prophet (saw) and his rightly guided caliphs, then it will be an innovation.

Allah has PERFECTED our Deen, so don't let others tarnish it an make it imperfect!

Jumuah Mubarak Text

"Nowadays the Jumuah Mubarak text is sent by many people every week. Many of these texts are not authentic. These messages should be stopped and not forwarded on. People forward these messages just because they sound good irrespective of the message being false or inappropriate.

If one really wants to send a text then he should send something that will be of Islamic benefit but he should not only send it on Jumuah. He should send it on other days as well."

Some Ulama do not encourage the Jumu'ah mubarak messages(not only because they are often Islamically incorrect) but because it has become a trend to wish "jumu'ah mubarak"....and Allah know best

sometimes we get people just saying jummah mubarak,and no ther text..is this a bidah,just saying jummah mubarak?

From experiance, Honestly, most of the times I get these texts, it is from those who dont even go for Jummah. i.e. not just sisters but men too. And by the way, they also have free SMS bundles.

How many people would spend 10p in the way of Allah?

All i wanted to know if it was bidah,and i know its the bralavi who follow this trend of jummah mubarak.but here it seems to get heated up........i guess no Ulamaa has said its bidah only apart from salaf'i's...even though this dont answer my question.

I was testing, and that was the best rule I can find. InshaAllah I will try ask around. Not Shaykh Google (d.c.)

It is sad that we cant ask questions to the Ulamaa, thats why I came to this site in the first place as recommended by Mufti Yaseen Shaikh.

The Ulama dont have the means/resources/time to answer questions online. In the end it all comes down what the non Ulamaa have understood. We just pass on the information here.

Asslamo Allaikum Respected Mufti Ismail Moosa Saheb (HA),

In UK many Muslims send SMS (text) messages which contain some advice or some Hadeeth or simply "Jummuah Mubarak" on fridays to others Muslims.

  • Sometimes the advice,hadeeth etc is inauthentic
  • Sometimes the advice is sound and the text or Hadeeth from the Kitaab of Authentic Ulama
  • Sometimes it has some Sunnah advice like don't forget to do Ghusl
  • Sometimes its just "Jummuah Mubarak"

 

  1. What is legal status of this action? Is this Bid'ah? Is this Makrooh?
  2. Should these text messages be sent to people? If so, what should be the guidelines?
  3. What should be done by the person who receives them and what should be their action towards these message? Should they be deleted or forwarded?
