Its not like when you exercise the heart rate goes to 120/min and when you stop it suddenly comes back to 70/min. Even at rest the heart rate remains 120/min, it only slowly returns to normal.

Btw, are you fat Abu Mohammed?

Ok Jazakallah, I always thought you had to build up the heart rate then slow it down before you stop. Jazakallah for the clarification.

I no longer have a six pack! My marriage turned it into a one pack and all I can say is Alhumdulillah (wife is a great cook).

Note: I had to change the title to what it is due to the fact that it could have caused harm to others.

I agree akhii, probably in the same predicament now as you used to be. Did you manage to lose it then and get that flat stomach ?

I was wondering the other day whether MS had a fitness talk related thread, as I've seen the odd posts related to fitness here and there.

Men should be strong, end off, were protectors and supporters of our brothers, of our women and families. So in my opinion it's a duty to be strong and know how to protect ourselves, because if you are you'll have a natural aura about you and people will think twice before messing with you. But if you look like an easy target then more than likely you'll get picked on.

However this new generation they'd rather eat chicken and chips all day and sit around doing nothing , not all but most.

Hmmm, looks like everyone is on my case ;)

Did I mention I could could do the splits too. Not so much anymore, but I can still kick very high without the need to jump. I can still kick the top of a door frame in an average house.

So I still have some of my old self.

We don't have a fitness section but there are threads discussing martial arts etc.

I guess it's because the thread was named after you :D

Akhii high kicks are an disaster in my opinion, miss or get it wrong and you'll end up on the floor. That's why a lot of fighters never really recommend kicks above the knee level as your leaving yourself open and the last place one wants to get kicked is in between the legs. They look good though I must say :D

In regards to fat loss, teaming up with a few brothers and playing 5-7 a side football once/twice a week will help keep those layers off. But most important is diet.

Weights and martials arts are good too, but sometimes one is short on time so other alternatives are necessary.

I wonder if anyone has ran leangains here the new IF ( Intermittent fasting ) ? Well it's certainly taken the fitness world by a storm.

I think it might be a good idea for MS to have its separate fitness thread maybe, that way the knowledgeable brothers can help others and inspire one another to get in shape.

Our religion ain't about us looking like 'ladoos', you know :D

Yes but it's useless if you don't know how to take care of yourself, I saw a guy once who looked like a freshy get terrorised by two black guys, he didnt even say nothing, the two black guys randomly decided to throw their fried chips at him one by one and laugh, people ignored and walked on and the guy getting terrorised didnt know what to do, you should have seen the terrified look on his face it was like he was pleading for mercy. I crossed over but by the time I got there the two black guys had managed to jump on a bus.

In college I used to work in retail, one sister fully dressed in hijab comes in to do shopping she had a little kid with her two and didnt have no mehram with her, some white guys tried cornering her thinking she's alone and there's no one here in this side of the department, so I kind of guessed what they were up to so I went and stood nearby on purpose and Wallahi I was ready and didnt care about the job one but, but them guys knew better and moved on and gave me dirty looks.

I've had many such experiences but there's a fine line between the two my brother and that's the point I'm trying to get across. I've seen big massive guys 6'4 built like a brick but they have no heart, I've seen guys who are humble Wallahi but they know how to handle stuff if it comes to it and they are humble in speech, dress they always wear thawb and have a full beard but if they walked up to someone and stared them in the eye, very few would manage to even glare back.

Be humble yes, they say don't be so sour that they spit you out and not so sweet that they eat you, their is a fine line between the two.

Fully agree with the above brother.

This is where I really don't like one particular group of Muslims, too soft if you ask me. We need those type to act on Hadith properly and not give the other cheek.

Don't use high kicks, especially with my style/size. Although I can do it fairly well, low kicks are the best. The high kicks are just for show ;)

Why I mentioned akhlaq!

Everyday I look in the mirror I see myself and say

Dua For Looking in the Mirror

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ حَسَّنْتَ خَلْقِي فَحَسِّنْ خُلُقِي

Allahumma anta hasanta khalqi fahassin khuluqi

The translation is something like "O Allah, just as you have made my external features beautiful, make my character beautiful as well"

In Jamaat I've been to a few racist areas, we had one where some nut case cane and stabbed the mosque door, but as soon as the brothers got out they done a runner. Police came as their was a big massive knife shoved in the door. Usually we'll try to play football with them and then beat them at it :D

Darul Uloom London is situated in a racist area, the DU had a lot of problems at one point where it's windows would get smashed, the elders at that time in the Madrassah students would go out in the freezing cold in their Thawbs and do patrols, no one dared to come near. Even the police at that time turned a blind eye towards it what I hear from brothers who studied there, so yeah they would do their patrols in the end and then I think it kind of died down itself from there.

Any tips on stretching? I've tried a lot to spread my legs at 180 degree angle, but it seemed too hard. The benefit I've got that I can make roundhouse kick and side kick. Without flexible body exercise or martial art aren't possible.
