Wa 'alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullah

If you are referring to the arabic word اصحاب (plural of صاحب) then its most common meaning is 'companions'.

Iblees IS the name of the Devil (Shaytaan) who was expelled from Jannah when he refused to prostrate to Adam( عليه السلام)

And (remember) when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before Adam.". And they prostrated except Ibls (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allh) [Surah Baqarah: Verse 34]

And Allah knows best.

May the people of real knowledge correct the above where necessary. Aaameen.

Fee amaanillah

Was-salaam

AsSalamu Alaykum W.W

Regarding Iblees.. His real name was 'Aazazil' however it then was changed to 'Iblees' when he rejected in doing sajdah to Aadam a.s.

The word iblees means having no hope/sorrow/to stay away/stopped i.e stopped form rewards/goods etc. - It's mentioned in Jalalyn.

عزازل OR   عزازيل  both are biblical versions of the name "Iblees". I don't know of any solid Islamic evidence to suggest that this was "Iblees's" name and books where this name is quoted have relied upon "Israeli traditions" of Pre-Islamic times.
