BATLEY MOON SIGHTING COMMITTEE CRITERIA CHECKED AND APPROVED

All praises to Allah most high, the criteria that the Ulama compiled after months of research and all our imams
and senior Muftis and Ulama agreed to without any internal or external pressure was sent to senior Ulama in
India and Pakistan, checked by them and there suggestions have also been added. Words of approval have
also been received. There are a lot of false rumours being associated to our respected, long serving, senior
and sincere Imams who are firm and strongly back this sharee ruling. May Allah accept the services of our
prominent Ulama and keep there strong light of guidance a beacon for us all for times to come. It is with regret
that some in the community have made it and objective to hinder the decision of our Ulama and create
disruption and disunity amongst the local members, such people should fear Allah and the consequences of
backbiting and misquoting our pious Ulama. Below are Quotes from Darul Iftaa Dabhel from Mufti Ahmed

"The Criteria that has been put together by the Ulama of Batley in the light of Quraan, Hadith and Fiqh at the
request of the IMWS was received by myself and checked. It was also read by my colleagues in the Darul Iftaa
Mufti Abbas Bismillah, Mufti Abdul Qayyum and Mufti Hifzurahman Sahib. We all read it in depth and approve
it, we pray Allah make these principles a means of creating unity on the issue of moon sighting. I would also
advice that the eight core principles if adapted and practiced upon each month without fail will safeguard

Mufti Ismail Kacholvi Sahib
"Alhamdulillah this article is sufficient and encompassing of all the laws of moon sighting. I would also advice
that all participants declare and sign that you have given up the previous method of declaring the moon and
will now abide according to the decision of Batley Moon Sighting Committee. You must also sit down once a
year and correct anything contrary to Hanafi Fiqh"

"In my recent trip to the UK (May 2008) I was honoured with the opportunity to meet the Ulama of Batley. I was
informed of the compilation of rules regarding moon sighting and had a chance to study and make slight
amendments which have been incorporated. Alhamdulillah a comprehensive article on moon sighting has
been prepared. I hope and pray if implemented correctly according to shariat it will create Harmony and unity.
Ramadhan, Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adhaa are acts of worship in which the general public should follow the
research of prominent Ulama and Muftis and not act on their desire. It is also the role of these Ulama and
Muftis to make sure all decisions on these aspects are based on strong sharee evidence safeguarding from
disruption. I pray this article of the Ulama and Muftis of Batley be a means of unity on the issue of moon
