Assalamualaikum

unfortunately, it has become common practice to send and forward such text messages as follows:

please recite, pray or perform the following.... etc. and good will come your way. Please pass on to 7 people, remember Allah Subhaanuhuwata'aala is watching you.

and unfortunately, sometimes...

please do the following... if you choose to ignor this message you will receive bad luck.

Many times stating that such and such a person did not do the action, and sufferred fatal death, accident or loss in wealth.

PLEASE NOTE:

As Muslims it is COMPULSORY for us to believe that all good and bad only comes from Allah Subhaanuhuwata'aala, and to believe contrary to this, a person is removing themselves from the fold of Imaan.

NEXT TIME SUCH TEXT MESSAGES ARE RECEIVED PLEASE IMEDIATELY DELETE THEM AND DO NOT FORWARD!

and the same goes for emails as well! the most recent one going around is if you dont do this, you will lose someone you love... that is in Allah's hands, not dependant on whether we send and email or not

Assalamu alaykum w.w,

indeed, these messages are of no use. they are classified as chain letters.
Islamically, you are not threatened to pray such and such or death/bad luck will fall you. Islam is not a religion of force or suppression.

Assalaamu Alaikum These texts and e-mails are against the way of Islam, it is important for one to inform the sender of the error of their deed even if you feel that they will be offended it is better to correct their mistake than to allow misdeeds to be done Trust only in Allah سبحانه وتعالى Wasalaam
