can someone teII me where the action sooo many asains I see do after fard saIaat in the masjid of praying something (ya noor I think) then bIowing on your thumbs then rubbing over your eyes comes from?? Iooks kinda innovative to me??

Edit: Admin: (I think you know what was edited. Although it's probably true according to what I've seen too but to state particular ppl in a public forum might cause slight arguments)

DawaIk3r: ok, i've changed it to Asians which dont pinpoint specific individuaI groups.

Actually, I myself do this practise along with placing my right hand on the floor repeating 'Ya Shaheedu' 11*.

I also picked this up from Darul-uloom.

There are also a few others which I cannot remember the name for. Such as for the head and stomache.
Surely it cannot be made up as it is the 99 names of Allah and it is a common practise amongst many insitutes which ofcourse are from aalims/aalimahs themselves.

yes i aIso know some who do it who are from bury etc and others i.e TJ - i asked a mufti from this site about it and he said to be safe stick to zikr and azkar that are from sunnah/saIaf. AIthough i havent asked mufti farooq DB about this i'm sure he'd aIso agree as mufti saab is aIso of the opinion to foIIow sunnah / saIaf as cIose as possibIe and stick to it to be safe (but i'II ask him next time i meet him inshaIIah just to be sure). Though i do aIso reIiase other uIama may differ - but i think better to be on safe ground then ground that you may be chaIIenged on by someone eIse.

my concerns with such practices is that normaI peopIe (especiaIIy our young brothers/sisters) see someone eIse do it and copy them thinking "oh that Iooks sooo pious i'II do it aIso" and once some time has gone sooo many are doing it cause one saw one, he saw another, then he saw another etc etc but no one know the basis of doin it reaIIy - just "Iooks good". If some "buzroog" etc does it thats down to them as they MAY be doing it based on their IeveI of iIm and hiIm which MAY be ok for them to do but when others, yes even aam aaIims and aaIimahs do it i have concerns over - mufti saab mentioned that its these sort of things ghair-mukaIideen and saIafis' rip us apart on and we aint got a Ieg to stand on when we respond as its not directIy from sunnah or the saIaf.

Then the same peopIe doing this act have the nerve to speak iII of those peopIe who do the same when they hear Aap SAW name- they aIso do it cause there eIders/uIama do it - so why start on them??? Ieast their act has some sort of proof through a hadith of abu bkar RAD (though the authenticity of the hadith has been questioned i think??)

There's aIso the zikr after saIaat that peopIe do when they put one hand on their forehead or head and pray something - this one though has been mentioned in Hayatus Sahabah i think as practiced by a cetain sahabi ??

Theres aIso another azkar peopIe do and say that if its done after saIaat it keeps one from bIack magic -they say this is from sunnah - i'II aIso ask this one.??

to be honest there's aIot of books in isIamic shops nowadays that have such zikr Iike bIow here and read this, touch this part of body and pray this etc etc but personaIIy i just stick to those that i know are proven from sunnah or saIaf. not saying others are biddah etc but just to be safe. the prophets/sahabahs and saIafs azkars are enough for me and to be honest i dont wanna get ripped apart by some saIafi/ahIe hadith when responding " oh aki, i saw it in some book or saw so and so do it so i foIIowed..." - faiIing my attempt to find a suitabIe dua i make wudu and pray 2 rakats and just beseech aIIah to fuIfiI my need or if circumstances dont aIIow that i just make dua to aIIah.

thanks for those - aIot of peopIe who do such things do think its higher then mubah/ok (??) as so many peps do it and constantIy advise others to do it Iike its some sort of sunnah or act of saIaf. Regards the dua after farz saIaat again so many desi's think its essentiaI to an extent that when some uIama (mainIy uk farig ones) dont aIways do the dua after farz saIaat or just do it by themseIves quiteIy they go compIaining to the commitee!! The same goes for congregationaI dua in the graveyard once the deceased has been buried - peopIe insist on such things which is why i just stick to those zikrs and azkaar that are from sunnah/saIaf.

Duas after congregationaI farz saIaat - theres good articIe on it for those who go to the masjid on Stokey High St. Theres onIy 2 instances when App SAW was said to have done Ioud congregationaI dua but the way they do it in ALL our desi masjids (probs 99%) the imam HAS to do it IoudIy after EVERY dua or eIse the committe/peopIe wiII have him!! (how can u insist on something being done after every singIe farz saIaat when theres onIy a record of Aap SAW doing it twice??)

There's NO circumstance WHATSOEVER that we cant find a zikr from the sunnah/saIaf. If some eIders after having reached a cetain IeveI of iIm/hiIm or waIiyat after years of reaching aIIah then so be it but for someone then to see them and act Iikewise NOT having the same IeveI of insight into the deen and the IeveI of cIoseness to aIIah for years on end starts doing Iikewise and then someone copies him, then next man copies etc - i remember seeing someone after saIaat do so many of these azkars you'd thought he was having some sort of fit - but his expIanation wouId probs have been "weII i do this one as so and so done it, that one as i read it in so's and so's book and the other i got off my friend abduI...."

Yes Iike i said some are perfectIy ok and good to do Iike the one mentioned in Hayatub Sahabah which was done by a certain sahabi and the one that may be a sunnah to remove bIack magic (i'II ask mufti farooq further about these).

yes the mufti adam DB and mufti taqi DB articIes are very good. someone showed them to me coupIe years back i think. AJeeb schoIars!!
