I'm planning to go inssallah, so I'm looking into it myself. All I can advise you for now if any food place sells poke then all the food in that resturant ect isn't halal. Istanbul is suppose to be islamicly educational but a very polluted and over crowded too.

Istanbul, Topkapi museum & Blue mosque. (there is plenty of ziyarat to be done there)
Topkapi museum is where all the displays of the khalifa's swords, Prophet (saw) beard hair etc is.

Conia - graves of saints. 2 hrs away from Ankara (spellings??)

Antalya - beach area (nice to see)

Alot of places are halal. (you just have to find em!) pizza and adana kebabs are nice. however, where you see alcohol based restaurants, you avoid them. I know its common sense.
If you have a self catering apartment, you may as well cater for yourself.

I on a personal note do not know. The above info is from a relative whom I asked. All I can say is, you may as well detox for that week or so and stick to water and fruit.

They (my uncle and aunt) ate at someones house for 2 days and catered for themselves for most of the remainig days. However, they also ate out in places that they were satisfied with. (They are fussy with halal/haram)

Alternativly, take some home cooked food such as dried food and place in fridge as soon as you arrive. That will last you a few days. (Just a typical indian method when going abroad).

can you kindly remove the "lol" from your post as it shows jesting which between non-mahrams is not ideal.

Something like that shouldn't put you off, you have chosen to go to a Muslim country, so you will no doubt find halal food. A lot of my friends went to turkey Istanbul, non of them said anything about finding it difficult to find halal food or restaurant which sever halal...

If any doubt still, stick to eating the hotel food, find out what hotel serves halal food like I did and stick to that.

yes but how "HaIaI" is it. if you waIk down kingsIand high st (hackney) aII the many many turkish restaurants wiII say they are haIaI with signs everywhere but those of us who have Iived here for the past 30+ years know 90% are most IikeIy not. yes musIim country but Iike saudi its not aII exactIy cIear cut. you cant just take peopIes words as face vaIue nowadays - money taIks. aII i want someome to teII me is that musIim sIaughter is THE common sIaughter method used in most if not aII turkish abbatoirs or have they aIso brought in modern sIaughter practices to meet demand??

how again sure can one be that a hoteIs food is haIaI just cause they say it is. thats Iike going on the pIane and eating there haIaI food just cause they say it is. Cananda's Iargest "haIaI" ready made food companY AI-Safa seIIs "Zabiha haIaI" food which is machine sIaughtered with someone standing by the machines saying bismiIIah- now if a canada hoteI use them to cater for musIim quests saying "yes they are haIaI" what then??

one haIf of istanbuI is good deen wise (the asian/middIe eastern quarter) but the other is more or Iess totaIIy westernised (western quarter) i'm hoping inshaIIah the good side is ok food wise (??). Some friends went few years back 2/3 eat everything they saw other friends never touched the meat.

As I said before, just stick to fruit, bottled water and vegetarian meals (where you see the meal prepared in front of you). You wont lose out on your health as it is only a week!!
