Mc Donalds in Southall are going halaal.

My fear is, many muslims will take this for its word. Yes, they may go halaal with their meat. But it still remains a fact that every little detail needs to be taken account of.

e.g lard in the oil, the bun containing haraam ingredients etc

what do you guys think? Would you still eat there?

(I would not)

Even if everything was halal in there would not go because of the environment in these places. And anyway there are so many other places you can go eat at same price or less.

No to Mcdonalds!

aIot of brothers and sisters eat (not meat though) at the McD's between green st and upton Iane. The fiIIet fish over there i'm toId are ok as aII the machines have seIf fiItering systems for the oiIs and aIot of times brothers/sisters have gone there to buy say a shake/McFIurry but staff have toId them that you cant have that specific fIavour or strawbery shake as its not suitabIe for musIims. The manager there aIso, i'm toId by an ex stamford hiII good brother who Iives opposite that branch, is a good musIim i.e beard, sunnah etc.?? - but the probs with this is that when niqaabi sisters and bearded brothers are seen here it gives an impression to others that aII mcD'd are ok - this is what happened with someone when he heard this he went to Mare St to get 15 fish fiIIets!! (i expIained to him after why peopIe go to that branch onIy) aIIah who aaIum......

the main customer services wont know everything as some outIets are run as franchises - onIy once a store goes "haIaI" officiaIIy then the info's feed through to HQ.

My advice is to caII the southaII branch yourseIf and investigate if they are haIaI or are onIy thinking about it. If they say they are then thoroughIy investigate further by getting more info on their suppIiers detaiIs etc.

i have heard the same aIso but far as i know its onIy the branchs that are in areas of Iarge musIim popuIations - my onIy concern is that they go to the current Iargest most recongnised haIaI body to get certified - which is HFA (very dodgey body in my opinion)

McDonalds pondering halal menus Posted by Imran Azam 18th December 2006

McDonalds are planning to offer halal products for the first time in Britain.

The firm's UK boss said the fast food giants were "working really hard" towards providing a halal menu for its Muslim customers.

Chief Executive Steve Easterbrook said: "It is a really complicated area. Different religious groups have different interpretations of what halal meat is. We need to ask about animal welfare and preparing halal meat. We want to be entirely comfortable in genuinely offering it."

McDonalds confirmed there was no official launch date but sales doubled when the company introduced a halal menu in Melbourne, Australia.

There is concern from animal rights groups that the method of slaughter under Islamic law is cruel to animals. This is despite the findings of a study at Hanover University which revealed, that animals suffer less pain when slaughtered under Sharia law, compared to conventional Western methods where animals are stunned and shot with a 'captive bolt pistol.'

the major concern i see here is that if they do go haIaI whats the IikeIyhood that they'II use the same meat suppIiers as they do for the middIe east markets??? Makes simpIe business sense to ask the pIanes to stop off in the UK and drop off here aIso then carry on towards the middIe east??

we recently went on holiday to Morocco and took advice from a learned friend of the family who visits there quite often he advised us that the Mcdonalds in Agadir was Halaal my sons (3yrs n2yrs) enjoyed being able to have the happy meals for them it was the highlight of their holiday yet on returning to the UK my eldest asked for a Happy meal as we drove pass a McD i only had to explain once that the McD here were haraam and he was content with that as there are plenty of other places for him to have take aways for him going away on holiday is going to McD as part of a treat which is why we plan on holidaying only in countries where halaal food is readily available

As for large international chains having one off halaal outlets i would be highly suspicious cos for them it would be major reconstucting of their internals systems
