Erm another effy subject??

Just wanted to ask other members opinions on are musIim asians rasict? i mean so many times i hear asians (Bengi, Paki or Guji) cuss bIack foIk even if they are musIims. Other times the way guji's go on (or pakis/bengis- but i refer 1st to gujis as i'm one) ) they think they are soooo pious but if you Iook at certain things we do its bIatant biddah or its that we dont want deen in that certain part of our Iives ( i mainIy refer here to eIder guji.s even those with scarfs on and big beards/jubbahs). Some asian musIims aIso cuss/diss Arabs sometimes.

Assalamoalaikum Warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh

Yes, I do believe that racism is still a very big problem in many communities, and to be quite honest, mankind as a whole... because the problem is the pride, arrogance and superiority complex which the guilty individuals harbour in their hearts.

Any human with knowledge of his Creator, and belief in the Day of Reckoning will have enough humility to silence their tongues in regard others, whether that be relating to their appearance or activities (except when advising with sincerity).

The lack-logic of those who believe themselves to be superior on account of their skin tone beggars belief ... is it they who chose their skin tone? did they by any strength/will of their own decide on their physical appearance?

It's horrendous that many elders will pass derogatory comments towards a person's chosen spouse, simply because of their skin tone - TONE - I mean shades of darkness for crying out loud, not even significant difference in nationality. Pathetic ! Disgusting ! *frowns in despair*

ok, ok ... 'nuff said

wassalaam

Assalamu Alaikum,

I think its very unfortunate but true. From my experience even some students in madrassah's are guilty of this. I know when travelling to countries like Malaysia/Indonesia people of fairer complexion are treated better. You here comments like 'he/she is so white! Nevermind that, most of the cosmetics there are designed to make you look whiter/fairer. May Allahسبحانه وتعالى give us understanding and tolerance, ameen.

Assalam,i belive these things start from home.Like family name, ghaam(from which village),money status(even within brothers)(dont even matter how they earned).Look, colour, even religeous comintment dont matter when it comes to milket, influance sarraunding sagawara chamchas.I see rescism starts sarraounding families. Its starts from jealous.May Allah swt forgive us,But these r my viws & personel experiances. From here we start bullies to areas to countries & religion and even libas & speaking habits.

when i went for hajj recently, i was taken back by the many different coloured muslims that also attended from all over the world to perform the same task as myself. i was in awe.

we are all equal in Allah سبحانه وتعالى eyes. no one is better than the other. the only comparison lies in status in Allah سبحانه وتعالى eyes are the ones who are learned and are in rank. e.g prophets, sahabas, sahabiyaats, khalifas, awlias major imams (abu hanifah etc)

you could be coloured and have a higher status in islam. look at Bilal r.a!! i know in the guji community its really bad. we think we are better and pious and we know more than any other ethnic people. its so not true. as i mentioned above, i personaly think its prevalent in the older generation.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى will not look at our colour, status, or wealth, he will look at the state of our hearts and our good deeds, Alhamdulillah.

I wouldn't call it racism I think its more of ignorance. My cousin use to say in his madressa guji's look down at bangles because they are less religious. That bring no offence to me but I find that funny as Allah is the judge of a person deen. You can be so practicing outside to everyone but whether your prayers etc are excepted Allah only knows. So how comes people are ignorant when you don't know if Allah is accepting your ibadat, that's something to be scared and worried about and if a person is worried about his/her own ibadat then they won't have time to look down at others. (I don't mean this to any communities directly, just in general). sori if I keep repeating myself

And about hajj sister Queenie you are right it is beautiful everyone is equal in Allah eyes but I kept coming across Arabs who acted like they are more superior then everyone else. When my uncle lived in Makkah he was told by Arabs that they have more right over the prophet then anyone else!! At hajj I kept remembering the prophet final sermon in Arafat 'no Arab is superior to a non-Arab and no non-Arab is superior to an Arab, no white person is superior to a black person and no black is superior to a white except in piety'.

regards other communties thinking they are more pious then others this is a very very dangerous form of pride. moIIy saIeem dhorat DB said a few things regarding this sort of dangerous shaytani pride and what it can Iead to in his bayaan in stamford hiII Iast ramadhan.

There's aIso a famous incident about one of the saIaf saints (cant remember name) but goes something Iike he was traveIing with his discipIes when a non-musIim or the Iike came across their path and he had some sort of bad gumaan towards him or said something Iess about him (because he werent a musIim or not a pious musIim) and because of that thinking he feII in Iove with some woman on the way but the father of that women wouId onIy aIIow him his daughter under certain conditions which where something aIong the Iines of farming his animaIs incIuding his pigs for so many years i think he Ieft his discipIes too and started working for the father of the women he feII for. They Iater saw his state after some years when they passed him by crazing these animaIs and couIdnt beIieve it that such a shaikh had come to this. Iater things worked out i think and he repented and aIIah gave him his waIIiyat back but because of that Iooking down at someone he dropped so Iow in aIIahs eyes - no idea if this story is at aII true - can someone Iook it up?? Think the name was Shaikh Abu AbduIIah AndaIaus. He aIso knew about 20,000 hadiths with the fuII sanads for them.

But just goes to show who are we to Iook down on others. It may be cause of one sin we are doomed to heII and it may be cause of one good deed someone is saved from heII (Iike the incident of the prostitute who gave water to a thristy dog).

so true it is. that incident is a perfect example for all mankind.

rujie, you are so right about the arabs looking down on all asians. i myself have not experienced any problems with the arabs, but i have heard plenty of it. id say its best to ignore the ignorent people and carry on doing our level best to please are Lord - the Almighty.

The story was mentioned by Mufti Zubair Bhayat a couple of times back in the days when he blessed us with his visits in Ramadhan. I have it recorded on tape somewhere. Gonna dig it out now.

It is very sad that there are some racist teachers in Madaras's ..and racist committee members ..may Allah disgrace them and remove them for causing innocent children to loose out on Islamic education..

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "He is not one of us who calls for asabiyyah, (nationalism) or who fights for asabiyyah or who dies for asabiyyah."

(Abu Dawud)
