Civilisation of Prophet Sulaiman (P.B.U.H.)

The chapter narrates the story of Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) (P.B.U.H.), the Hudhud (i.e. lapwing bird), and Queen Saba' (Sheba). When analysing the verses of this story, let us imagine that the kingdom of Sulaiman is a company or an association that contains the following:

1. Knowledge and its importance: verse 15,

And certainly We gave knowledge to David and Solomon...
. Also the verse made it clear that they understood the importance of knowledge
...and they said: Praise be to God, Who has made us excel many of His believing servants
. Unlike nowadays children cheat in schools to pass exams because they don't understand the importance of knowledge.

2. Heritage of knowledge between generations: verse 16,

And Solomon was David's heir...
. For a successful civilisation to continue, it needs the next generations to carry it with the same strength.

3. Recognising the importance of languages and possessing unique talents: verse 16,

...we have been taught the speech of birds, and we have been granted of all things...
.

4. Large number of workers and multi-cultural: verse 17,

And there were gathered before Solomon his hosts of jinns and men, and birds...
. The word "gathered" in this verse shows discipline and order within the organisation where there is attendance everyday. There are also different creations within the organisation, which in today's language is diversity and multi-cultural.

5. Training: verse 18,

Until when they came to the valley of the Ants...
so Sulaiman is taking his subordinates to different places to show and teach them different things as a training.

6. Continuous follow up from the supervisor to his subordinates, and applying discipline within the organisation: verse 20 - 21,

And he reviewed the birds, then said: How is it I don't see Hudhud...I will certainly punish him with a severe punishment...
. So the supervisor knows all his subordinates one by one and reviews them daily, and stresses on discipline within the organisation on all levels, even the small employees.

7. Members of the society are proactive: verse 24 - 25, the Hudhud was moved by the fact that he saw another kingdom worshipping other than God, so he was proactive and went to tell his supervisor. 8. Information Accuracy: Hudhud's information was accurate, verse 22,

...I have come to you from Sheba with sure news
.

9. The organisation has a goal and its employers understand it: The Hudhud understands the goal of Sulaiman's kingdom, which is worshipping Allah and spreading this message around, so his work rotates around this goal, verse 24,

I found her and her people adoring the sun instead of God...
.

10. Information analysis: Notice that Sulaiman did not take the Hudhud's word for granted, but he had to make sure first by analysing the information then testing it, as in verses 27 - 28,

He said: We shall see whether you speak the truth or whether you are a liar. Take this, my letter and hand it over to them...

11. Democracy within the organisation: Let's look at the opposite side with Saba'. In verse 32,

She said: O chiefs! Advise me...
. A successful manager always listens to different ideas. Her people answered in verse 33,
...but it is for you to command; so think over what you will command
. Notice here their response compared to the Hudhud's response with Sulaiman, we find that the Hudhud has more positiveness and better understanding of his goals.

12. Powerful army: Sulaiman owned a very powerful army, verse 37,

Go back to them, so we shall certainly come to them with hosts which they have no power to oppose...
.

13. Owning advanced technology: Sulaiman asked his jinn to get him Saba's throne before she arrives to him. When she saw the throne she was stunned but tried to hide it intelligently and diplomatically by saying, verse 42,

...as though it were the very same...
. Verse 44,
It was said to her: Enter the palace. But when she saw it she deemed it to be a great expanse of water...
. The technology was so advanced at that time that the palace's floor was glass over the sea. When Saba' saw this wondrous advancement, she was moved, and then believed in Allah. Notice at the beginning of the chapter in verse 13 the Pharaoh did not believe in Musa and thought he was just a magician because Musa did not have any technological advancement. This is a message to today's youth to excel in their studies and work, to produce development in the Islamic society.

Hope this is what you were asking about...if not i am sure someone else will be able to help...jazakALLAH

Avoid conversational, one word, one phrase posts. This is not a chat forum but a forum to share useful and Halaal information and knowledge.

Salaam.

Although it's nice to see things lighten up in the forum, rules are rules, and I would urge members to remain formal in their interactions, especially with the opposite gender.

Jazakumullah khairun

Fee amaanillah

Wassalaam

As Salamu alaikum,

If i may add to your analogies;

1.scientist able to detect ants do talk to each other using sounds.

2.Another message is, the Hud hud was a resourceful creature. It flew to and from Palestine to Yemen a distant of 12,000 km!!
The Ifrit Jinns claimed to have power but failed to detect Sabaan
worshipping the sun.

3.Prophet Soloman's army was a Muslim army comprised of Muslim Jinns, men ,birds and other creatures. He would make sure of that before converting others so far away. After all he was only a king and prophet to the Israelites.

Correct me if I am wrong.
