Moulana Saleem Dhorat's is the best but there's Jame'ah Uloomul Qur'an too (under Moulana Adam), both in Leicester.

it would be advisable when thinking of something as important as choosing a daruloom, it would be advisable to contact a list of recommended institutions, i.e. bury, leicester. contacts can be found in the muslim directory. request a perspectus, even better visit the institutions and also talk to alims or hafiz of Qur'an who have graduated from your selected darulooms, it gives a person a rough idea of where they are most inclined towards, you would also need to check at what age each organisation accept students. Better still consult a pious and authentic alim.

Each Darul Uloom brings a different emphasis and hence there is no 'best' Darul Uloom. Bearing that in mind it is worth speaking to Alims to ascertain what type of Darul Uloom will be best suited to your personality and needs.

The Darul Ulooms mentioned above are all well respected.

academy leicester is the best because knowledge is taught at all darul ulooms but tarbiyat is only at the academy due to which academy aalims are the ones who practice the most on deen and in this time and age this is necessary

.Salaams.
I want to find out about the teachings that you do in this darululoom and what schemes you have in order to become a haafiz. I also would like to say that I want to become a haafiz and so have the eagerness in me.

i think it is very very wrong for us to compare darul ulooms, knowledge is available in every institute, how these institutes are run may differ, as a student you should study at a place where you think you would feel comfortable.
it is wrong for us to compare and say that tarbiyyah is better here than there...it depends on who you are as a person and what suits you.
institutes that offer a strict tarbiyyah have been criticised that their graduates cant mixed socially.
it depends on who you are and what suits you best because knowledge and tarbiyyah is everywhere

Asslamo Allaikum,

In UK Darul-ulooms charge a fee while overseas they are free so in act its cheaper to go overseas and not more expensive because it will just cost the Airfare and thats all.

I never said that there are no "good Darul-ulooms" in UK but I am talking about a better choice. If someone is committed then it would make sense to go for the best available option.

Another option is to do a year or so in UK and then go overseas. People of the past used to tarvel to get to the best teachers and that didn't mean that they disrespected their local teachers.

Who is in UK of the level of Shaykh (Mufti) Taqi Usmani (HA) of Pakistan?

OR even Shaykh (Maulana) Fazlur-Rahman Azmi (HA) of South Africa? Or Azadville (South Africa)?

Again, that doesn't mean that UK teachers and Darul-ulooms are not good and that's not the point of this discussion.

For the record, I am not criticising anybody or anyone, just offering a better choice and everybody is free to make up their mind.

Jazakullah Khairun

assalaamu 'alaykum
I would say, make inquiries about various institutions, visit them and talk to the staff and make istikhara before deciding. May Allah accept

What about living expences?

Asslamo Allaikum,

Free!

If you want I can try to put you in touch with some Ulama in South Africa and assist you in your cause.

Please understand my point of view.

If you are going to commit/spend 6-7 years of years and make an intention to Serve the Deen of Allah (SWT) then TRY TO BE THE BEST AT IT!

i'm begining to take offense to such strong words which imply that good darul ulooms are ONLY found abroad and not in the UK..A lot of it also upto the students, the more taqwa they adopt while attaining knowledge of Deen the more success they attain and they become the best of the best

Strange, But I see the correct opinion in both. I have never gone away to study for any thing except the normal School, College, Madresah etc all local.

Personaly, with no experiance of this, I would suggest going abroad too, as this would cut off all contact with the friends and family and minimise the social life greatly. Allahu Alum. Staying at home with all the luxuries of being a local has many disadvantages, it is like having everything on a platter ready, just like many of us who have been born into Muslim families. We take it to granted. But if one has to make a sacrifice to attain his/her goal, InshaAllah, the benfits will be more. This also goes for the residents of South Africa or any other country, they too should travel else where. History tells us that the best of scholars would travel to attain great knowledge.

Thats just my opinion, and I have no experiance at all, except that I sent my little brother to a Darul Uloom a few hundred miles away.
