Islamic Academia has a rich tradition of disagreement, students of Imam Abu Haneefa (RA) disagreed with them and we read, quote and cite these all the time.
Take a look at our Akabir and their disagreements are also listed in books. The famous disagreement of Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) and Shaykh Hussain Ahmed Madani (RA) is quoted all the time.
Medieval Christianity on the other hand has a history of silencing dissent and disagreement.
Ulama simply don’t comment on opinions/Fatwaas of others, this leaves space for either Ulama like Shaykh (Mufti) A. S. Desai (HA) whom people consider harsh or laymen to take the challenge who are set upon by others for disagreeing with Ulama.
This is a reality check.
Why are Ulama like Shaykh (Maulana) Ibrahim Mogra (HA) allowed to get away with the statements. These brothers who are disagreeing with him have some justification in taking up the mantle and highlighting his views and why are they running to South Africa to address issues by a British Scholar?
That in itself speaks volumes about the state of British Deobandees.
