Islamic Academia has a rich tradition of disagreement, students of Imam Abu Haneefa (RA) disagreed with them and we read, quote and cite these all the time.

Take a look at our Akabir and their disagreements are also listed in books. The famous disagreement of Shaykh (Maulana) Ashraf Ali Thanwi (RA) and Shaykh Hussain Ahmed Madani (RA) is quoted all the time.

Medieval Christianity on the other hand has a history of silencing dissent and disagreement.

Ulama simply don’t comment on opinions/Fatwaas of others, this leaves space for either Ulama like Shaykh (Mufti) A. S. Desai (HA) whom people consider harsh or laymen to take the challenge who are set upon by others for disagreeing with Ulama.

This is a reality check.

Why are Ulama like Shaykh (Maulana) Ibrahim Mogra (HA) allowed to get away with the statements. These brothers who are disagreeing with him have some justification in taking up the mantle and highlighting his views and why are they running to South Africa to address issues by a British Scholar?

That in itself speaks volumes about the state of British Deobandees.

People should wake up and realize that laymen DON'T simply start disagreeing/refuting Ulama, they do consult other Ulama (in Britain) who don't publicize their views in public but do back pawns to do the work.

Every refutation is like this, un-named Ulama are quoted as "Major Alim was consulted"..."Well known Shaykh was consulted"..."Big Darul-uloom was consulted" ...but no names!

Clearly shows that Ulama are giving private opinions but not willing to go public.

You will find that Ulama in the UK will generally not have the spine to refute the batil of people like Ibrahim Mogra. In fact, try asking his own teachers or other graduates from the same institution at which he studied & you won't get anything out of them.

In the mean time his twitter followers increase & the lay person justifies their actions in the light of what Ibrahim Mogra says.

Would we see the same institutional bias, or rather silence, if another scholar made exactly the same statement as Ibrahim Mogra?

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM

22 Rajab 1435 (22 May 2014)

Your e-mail dated 22 May 2014 refers.

The character called 'shaykh' Mogra subscribes to a transmogrified religion which he advertises as Islam. This shaitaan is a shaitaan in human form. It is haraam to listen to the rubbish kufr he propagates. May Allah Ta'ala save Muslims from the clutches of this Iblees in human form.

Was-salaam

A.S. Desai

For

Mujlisul Ulama of S.A.

The question was the same as that posed to Mufti Elias mentioned earlier in this thread. Since the question contains links it is not possible as I guest to post the question & since registering is not straightforward either, the only way the question can be posted is if an already registered user posts the question

Assalamu alaykum,

Based on all the statements which you have quoted above, a layman should not be permitted to listen to the speeches or read the books of Ebrahim Mogra.

That's a bit harsh. Shaykh Ibrahim mogra is very well respected and does a lot of work for the Muslims in this country. If he is shaitan then there's lots of other scholars who should be called shaitan. Why the double standards? This is what creates fitnah and disunity in the ummah. Muslims are dying all over the world and we are busy fighting amongst ourselves.

If you see the original question posed with his statements it's hard to even classify him as a Muslim.

Bismihi Ta'ala

The statements are clearly serious. I would suggest you ask Shaykh Ibrahim
Mogra to clarify his statements.

Indeed, the greater problems of this Ummah are persons like you who have no idea about the term "unity". Do you have any idea on the gravity of his statements? A deviant must be condemned for the sake of Islam. Mr. Mogra made statements of Kufr and Fisq. He deserves harsh responses because he isn't a layman.
