the message seems to have been authorised, than reported.....I read it a few minutes ago!..
Alhamdulillah, i accept all your opinions, however personally, i think whether we can or cannot change their minds from acting in such a disgusting manner, there is no harm in showing our opposition to it. If no one votes no, there will be a higher percentage of yes voters on the website, giving them more authority for themselves to publish the cartoons, Allah forbid.
And also in the message i recieved it said that if they recieved 3000000 votes, the publication would stop, surely this is the best thing, and if our opinions have no effect thereafter, at least weve made an effort and showed our hatred for it. By us Muslims not voting, others may think we dont oppose ot, or dont care maybe, i think we should publicise our negativity towards it and Allah Knows Best.
As Salamu Alaikum
And also in the message i recieved it said that if they recieved 3000000 votes, the publication would stop <------------that i find very hard to believe....why mention it in the first place!!...the reason why they have said that is so that it becomes KNOWN to us that they are intending on doing it
Alhamdulillah I understand your comment, but all I can say is Allah Know's Best, and we should make dua that Allah stops these dispicable people from making a mockery out of Islam, and give them Hidayaat InshAllah!
As Salamu Alaikum
Point very well made, Muslimah_119. Jazakillah Khairun. It is most certainly just a publicity stunt - as they say "all publicity is good publicity". It could just be a small-time publication knowing that by creating a furore they will propel themselves into the ranks of the 'big guys'.
Allahu 'Alam. But certainly, it is not worthy of our time.
[After reading aag's post below, I am tempted to soften the tone of this post. If I am wrong in what I've said, stand corrected. Truly, Allah knows best.
We always look back to the sahaba for guidance in a situation, and if we think of the way in which the sahaba (RA) would defend the name of the Prophet (SAW) whenever he was insulted, then I guess we must confess that our love is very weak in comparison. However, there is also some wisdom in trying to reduce the exposure of these vile insults. Allahu 'Alam]
Well I must say - I am quite surprised at the response of most people. Have you forgotten the Hadith?
Abu Saeed al-Khudri RadiAllaho anho says that Prophet reportedly said:
If anyone of you saw a munkar he should change it with his hand; if he can't then he must do so with his tongue, and if he cannot do that, then with his heart (i.e. shun the munkar in himself, feel bad about it).
Whether or not the URL voting thing is fake or not, whether it will work or not is not in your hands - unless of course you have knowledge of that wich has not been bestowed upon you. What is upon you is too prevent evil and uphold Haq when the oppurtunity arises.
How is it that a person makes a decision on the basis of dhun (suspicion) i.e that 'it COULD be a publicity stunt etc etc'.
In fact I personally feel there is oft an attitude of indifference and a stagnant air of neglience amongst the ummah when it comes to speaking aganinst falsehood.
Only very few Ulama are seen on the frontline bravely tackling current day issues e.g Sheikh Riyad ul-Haq. The rest are cowering behind excuses like "oh forget it, it won't make a diffrence anyway!" I make dua to Allah سبحانه وتعالى that He Gives us the Tawfeeq to enjoin good and forbid evil with Hikmah and Baseera.
And Allah سبحانه وتعالى Knows Best.
The replies in this topic shouldn't give the impression that we don't care brother. In fact, everyone who replied do care.
If the newspaper actually cared about what Muslims think and how we felt then they wouldn't need 3million votes to not go ahead with those cartoons. They'd ask the scholars. The newspapers and other medias know all about the scholars and that we have scholars who represent the Muslims when it comes to religion. Yet they did not ask scholars, they put up a poll expecting 3million votes.
Secondly, if the newspapers poll was legit, then they wouldn't ask for 3million votes, they would have taken 2 votes over 1 and 1000 votes over 999. In other words, they would look for majority.
3rdly, hasn't it crossed anyones mind that why did they not ask for 3million votes to HAVE the cartoons but they asked for 3million votes NOT to have them when they know the crazy fuss that was made when it happened in the past? I personally think it's coz they know we Muslims are the only ones who are going to click away, vote and give them that publicity they want.
4thly, if your statement of the Muslims forgetting the Hadeeth of Rasoolullah is befitting here, then are you telling us that if a poll came out daily against the Sharee'ah, we'd all have to just get on our knees and click on VOTE AGAINST everyday just so we don't fall under the category of those who have forgotten the Hadeeth?
Like it's been mentioned in many topics, it is really easy to gain publicity by ticking off Muslims and us being so naive, we'll forward any text, any email, post anything on the net without giving it any thought or trying to find out what's it all about. You mentioned 'with Hikmah' in your Du'aa. My Hikmah tells me that if that poll reaches 3million, there will be more polls on the net with similar attacks on Nabi and we'd only be the cause of it.
Alhamdulillah thanks to your post brother, i'm more sure of this being a stunt and completely agree with sister shahly's quote, "...certainly, it is not worthy of our time."
But the problem for this view is that if the thing WAS true then there's trouble. That's my point - this perpetual attitude of "oh it's a fake" may ONEDAY let you down.
Although I agree that many of these silly votes are rubbish - if they show a significant majority of the public voting YES for anti-hijab laws, anti-musjid laws, anti-madrasah laws etc, then this public view CAN form the basis of changes in legislation - and WE would suffer Allah forbid. You have to be very naive and puerile to believe that the results from these votes are not at least analysed and taken into consideration.
All I am saying is: isn't it better to stay on the side of caution?
Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
Please wait...
