Therefore, the Islamic month of Sha’bān has completed 29 days and Ramadān has begun.

The first day of Ramadān will be Thursday 19th February 2026.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُه

Declaration for the month of Ramadān 1447

Local Sighting Report: Negative
Foreign Sighting Report: Positive

Therefore, the Islamic month of Sha’bān has complete 29 days and Ramadān has begun.

The first day of Ramadān will be Thursday 19th February 2026.

Afghanistan have declared positive moon sighting on 17th Feb 2026. Moonset before sunset.
And this is not the first time that they are doing this.

Regarding Shawwal moon sighting, our Previous experience suggests:
  • Afghanistan 18th March is local 29th Ramadhan, they may sight Moon and 19th is eid
  • Saudia will not sight Moon on 18th, complete 30 days of Ramadhan and Eid will be on 20th
  • Turkey, Malaysia, Japan etc 19th March is 29th ramadhan, they go by calculations and declare positive sighting and Eid will be on 20th.
  • Indian sub-continent, 19th is 29th Ramadhan, possibility of negative moon sighting, complete 30 days of Ramadhan and Eid will be on 21st.
