Ml Ashraf Ali Thanwi رحمة الله عليه writings are such that whether it’s a street sweeper, minister, student of knowledge, or a scholar, rich or modest background, for all of them, there is guidance in his teachings.
This is why Ml Ilyas Kandhlawi رحمة الله عليه said, “The method is mine but the teachings should be those of Ml Ashraf رحمة الله عليه.”
Ml Ilyas رحمة الله عليه would consult with Ml Ashraf رحمة الله عليه.
Unfortunately, we, the people of Tabligh, are becoming known for being dismissive of reading books.
I know of a recent graduate of a madrasah, a scholar, a knowledgeable individual. At a small mosque, he is good at guiding people on religious matters and rulings. He leads the prayers.
I said to one of the local brothers in Tabligh in that mosque, “How come you don’t have a cordial relationship with this scholar?”
He responded, “The scholar is excellent, but he hasn’t spent four months.”
This response is contrary and a breach of correct principles.
Moreover, a person who has spent four months is incorrectly made to believe they are beyond approach.
These are serious matters for everyone to reflect on.
"Unfortunately, we, the people of Tabligh, are becoming known for being dismissive of reading books."
You only found this out recently, i found this out 30 years ago, the tablighis remind me of christians who say there is no way to the father except via christ. The tablighs say there is no way to Allah except via the way of tabligh.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
