Quote:
WHEN IS EID AL FITR 2025?
OUR PREDICTIONS

LOCAL UK SIGHTING: EID ON MONDAY 31 MARCH

SAUDI FOLLOWERS: EID ON SUNDAY 30 MARCH

It looks like we are heading into another split Eid this year, though we will know for sure this weekend.

This year is very controversial, as the split is likely to be caused by an “impossible” moonsighting in Saudi.

Of course these are simply predictions. And Allah knows best.

LOCAL SIGHTING

For local sighters, it’s quite straightforward.

Our 29 Ramadan will be on Sunday 30 March. The moon will be easily visible in the UK. This means Eid will be on Monday 31 March inshallah.

This will incidentally be the same date for mosques which follow Morocco / South Africa.

SAUDI FOLLOWERS

For mosques who follow Saudi - things are very controversial.

On Saturday 29 March Saudi will officially look for the moon. On this date, the moon is not scientifically possible to see anywhere in Saudi, the Middle East, Asia, Africa or Europe, even with telescopes.

Despite this, it is likely Saudi will produce a scientifically “impossible” moonsighting. These phantom moon sightings are almost annual occurances, and seem to align to their preprinted Umm al Qura calendar - a calendar which does not match lunar visibility.

In fact, during the daytime that day, there will be an eclipse. It is commonly known that you cannot see a new crescent a few hours after an eclipse.

There is a slight chance that they won’t claim to see it, and Saudi declare Eid for Monday. Some news reports even suggest this (see pic). This would mean a united Eid in the UK, but we think this unlikely.

To Saudi’s credit, their scholars have always publicly stated that other countries should not follow Saudi.

SIGHT THE MOON THIS SUNDAY!

Whether you do Eid on Sunday 30 March or will be fasting - it is still a wonderful opportunity to conduct the Sunnah of Moonsighting and see the Eid moon with your own eyes!!

On Sunday evening, why not go out, enjoy iftar or Eid dinner outdoors, and sight the moon with your friends and family. It’s a beautiful sight insha allah

Eid Al-Fitr to be celebrated on March 31 in Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, and Australia

A number of countries have officially announced that Eid Al-Fitr will fall on Monday, March 31, 2025, as the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted on Saturday evening.

Authorities in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Australia confirmed the date based on astronomical data and local moon sighting efforts.

In Bangladesh, the National Moon Sighting Committee stated that the crescent moon was not sighted, making Sunday the 30th day of Ramadan.

Indonesia also declared Monday as the first day of Eid after failing to observe the Shawwal crescent.

India, where today marks the 28th of Ramadan, expects the moon to be visible on Sunday, thereby celebrating Eid on Monday.

Malaysia’s International Astronomy Centre (IAC) confirmed that the crescent will be visible to the naked eye on Sunday, placing Eid on March 31.

Brunei followed suit, with the IAC also confirming that the moon will be visible there on Sunday.

The Australian Fatwa Council declared Eid Al-Fitr on March 31 as well, noting that the Shawwal moon will be born after sunset on Saturday in both eastern and western parts of the country.

More countries are expected to make official announcements as moon-sighting efforts continue across different regions. — Agencies

What is coming in the way of showing mirror to the them.
1. Don't belittle the Arabs.
2. The Liberals make fun of both the parties.
3. Ordinary muslims will distance from both
4. Non-muslims will target Islam.

That makes us to keep low profile on KSA moon sighting.

"Arafah is on the day muslims gather at Arafah ground" makes it shariah compatible.
