Wifaqul Ulama urges Muslims in Britain to attempt to sight the moon for Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1445 on the evening of Friday 7th June 2024. This will be the 29th Dhū al-Qaʿdah 1445.
We follow the same Moonsighting process for all 12 months and all proceedings will be live on Twitter.
As we have mentioned, the moon was not possible to see anywhere in Saudi Arabia, and yet a report of the moonsighting was obtained.
This means for mosques in the UK who follow The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eid is on Sunday 16 June.
Sadly this means a divided Eid for us in the UK, as the mosques who follow Saudi will follow this date; but the mosques who do not follow Saudi will likely have Eid on Monday.
Tomorrow, UK moonsighters will go out and look for the moon - do join us in the sunnah of moonsighting. If we see the moon, Eid will be on Monday 17 June.
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
