This thread is to collect wishes that people can copy when messaging someone on their joyous or sad occasion. Birth, death, new job, loss of a job, new house, new car, accident, sickness, engagement, wedding, divorce etc... so post away.

Many people are not articulate with their words so could do with copying and pasting.

For the Married Couple

Bāraka-llāhu lak, wa bāraka ʿalayk, wa jamaʿa baynakumā fī khayr.

May Allah bless you, shower blessings on you, and may He unite you in goodness.

Abū Hurayrah (raḍiy Allāhu ʿanhu) narrated that when the Prophet ﷺ congratulated a person on his marriage, he said [the above]. (Abū Dāwūd 2130)

Condolence to the Bereaved

Inna lillāhi mā akhadh, wa lahū mā aʿaṭā, wa kullun ʿindahū bi-ajali-m-musammā, fal-taṣbir wa-l-taḥtasib.

Indeed to Allah Alone belongs what He took, and to Him Alone belongs what He gave, and everything with Him has an appointed time; thus, be patient and hope for Allah’s reward.

Usāmah b. Zayd said, "A daughter of the Prophet ﷺ sent for him saying that my child is in his final moments so please come to us. He responded by conveying salām to her and saying [the above]. She sent for him again, taking an oath that he should come.

The Prophet ﷺ got up, and so did Saʿd b. ʿUbādah, Muʿādh b. Jabal, Ubayy b. Kaʿb, Zayd b. Thābit and some other men (raḍiy Allāhū ʿanhum). The child was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he was making a gurgling sound (the death rattle) [the sub-narrator thinks that Usāmah added: as though it was a leather water-skin. ]

Upon this, the eyes of the Prophet ﷺ started shedding tears. Saʿd asked, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! What is this?' He replied, 'It is mercy which Allah has placed in the hearts of His slaves; and Allah is Merciful only to those of His slaves who are merciful (to others).'" (Bukhārī 1284)

1) Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (Allah be pleased with him) advised a man to supplicate with the following words when congratulating new parents:

بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي الـمَوْهُوبِ لَكَ، وَشَكَرْتَ الوَاهِبَ، وبَلَغَ أشُدَّهُ، وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ

“May Allah bless you in His gift to you, may you give thanks to the giver of this gift, may the child reach the maturity of years, and may you be granted its righteousness.”

2) Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani (Allah have mercy on him), the great Imam and follower (tabi’i), would congratulate new parents with the following supplication:

جعله الله مباركاً عليك وعلى أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم

“May Allah make the child a blessing for you and a blessing for the Umma of Muhammad (Allah bless him & give him peace).”
(Recorded by Imam al-Tabarani 945 and others from Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani; Tabarani also reports this from Hasan al-Basri 946)

We relate from the book of Ibn as-Sunni that Ibn ‘Umar (my Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘A young man came to the Prophet (May Allah grant him peace and blessings) and said: ‘I intend to go and perform Hajj’. So the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) walked with him and said the first dua and when he returned he said the second dua’.

Zawwadaka-llahu-t-taqwa, wa wajjahaka fi-l-khayr, wa kafaka-l-muhimm

May Allah provide you with the fear of Allah, turn you towards good and be your sufficiency for what is important.

Qabila-llahu Hajjak, wa ghafara dhanbak, wa akhlafa nafaqatak

May Allah accept your Hajj and forgive your sins and compensate you for your expenditure.

This one is given by ChatGPT:

Departure for Hajj or Umrah:

"جَعَلَكَ اللهُ مِنْ مُّغْفَرَ لَكَ وَرَحْمَةٍ وَأَسْعَدَكَ فِيْ رَحِمَتِهِ وَجَعَلَكَ مِنْ عُتَقَاءِهِ"

May Allah make you among those forgiven, bestowed with mercy, and find happiness in His mercy. May He make you among His emancipated servants.
