Assalamualaykum. I am compiling a list of famous Islamic Celebrities / Preachers that used to go in Jamaat or started their journey in Deen through Tablighi Jamaat. You get what I mean...

Here is as far as what I've got:

  • Dr Zakir Naik - Spent 3 days several times when he was a student
  • Mufti Menk - Many family members are Tablighi and encouraged him to study deen
  • Yusuf Estes - Was an active Tabligh Worker
  • Mufti Taqi Uthmani - No 6 on most influential Muslims. No need further explanations on his affiliation with Tabligh
  • Khalid Yassin - Used to go Jamaat either 40 day or possibly 4 months in Pakistan
  • Hamza Tzortzis - Used to go 3 days. Reverted to Islam due to Tablighi Jamaat
  • Mishary Rashid Alafasy - I heard he went 40 days before
  • Hamza Yusof - Spent time before, probably only 3 days
  • Abdal Hakim Murad - Was active in Tabligh before
  • Cat Steven / Yusuf Islam - Spent 40 days in Jamaat in his early days of Islam
  • Dr. Shabir Ally - Famous preacher, ex Tabligh 300K subscribers on Youtube
  • Sheikh Uthman Farooq - Youtuber with 400K subscribers. Spent 4 months before
  • Sheikh Hoblos and almost everyone in OnePathNetwork (Australia) - 1.1M subscribers, Spent 4 months

Do tell me if you know any more! Jazakumullah Khair

Bismillah.

Many spend time in Tabligh and then they become Salaafi and start criticising Tabligh.

Dr Abu Ameena Bilal Philips.
Spent 4 months in Tabligh when he first embraced Islam. That too with Colonel Ameerudin. Back in the 1970’s.

I am not doubting you.
Do you have any proof that Hoblos was involved with Tabligh?

(1) Will Saleh from Saleh family youtube couple, he spend 4 months.
He speaks about it on his 'Conversion to Islam' YT video.

(2) Ruler of Qatar Tamim. His brother is involved in Tabligh. I confirmed it with Qatar businessman who was also spending time in Raiwind when I spoke to him.

Just contacted a few of the Australian brothers I know. Sheikh Hoblos being a Tablighi is a widely known thing there apparently as he still goes occasionally.

They also mention two of the largest Islamic Bodies in Australia, namely AFIC and ANIC are helmed by ex-tablighis
AFIC = Dr Rateb Jneid, spent 40 days according to them
ANIC = Sheikh Shady Alsuleiman, was a very active worker in Tabligh, 40 days, not sure 4 months.

Dr Zakir Hussain was the President of India.

He was the first to do Tablighi gashth in London

Maulana Azad was first Education minister of free India. He was associated with tableeg and was very close to Maulana Ilyas RA and Maulana Yusuf sahib RA.

When Indian cabinet was discussing about banning Tablighi Jamaat and there was strong push for ban by the then Home minister Vallabh bhai Patel, Maulana Azad defended Tablighi Jamaat with facts, cabinet was convinced and they withdrew the proposal. Jazakallahu Khair Azad sab.

In Maulana Azad's last days, Maulana Yusuf RA met Maulana Azad on his bed, maulana Yusuf RA did Muaniqa with Maulana Azad and they had long chat in state of muaniqa itself. After the chat Maulana Yusuf RA said, "everything is Ok" (with respect to Imaan and deen), on the way back, someone told Maulana Yusuf RA, you would have wished Nehru the then prime minister of India, he was sitting near Azad. Maulana told "you would have guided me there itself". The person said, "can we go back now", Maulana said "not now"

Rafiq Tarar, president of Pakistan was regular in tablighi khurooj.

Jasim Althani of Qatar, He abdicated his position as Crown Prince in 2003, in favour of his younger brother Tamim, citing being uninterested in becoming Emir.

He spends 4 months regularly. When his younger brother Tamim took over the Amarath of Qatar, he was in khurooj in India...... The ruler Tamim Althani consults his elder brother and Tablighi akabir.

It doesn't matter for tableegh.
We can recall many ministers MPs both present and past , they had association with tableeg

We call proactively . We don't say be a pious muslim, because that celebrity is pious. Yes, we give an example, a model, when that person can taubah, why can' we.

We call it as an obligation.

Not really. We can inform the layman Muslim how impactful the work of Tabligh is. Without Tabligh, these people won't be where they are today

Maybe a better use of words would be, "Without Tabligh, these people MAY NOT be where they are today"

People move on for advancement, further knowledge, other fields etc etc. Perhaps Tabligh was the means of their closeness to Allah and thereafter, some progressed whilst others digressed, drifted away, found flaws and wanted to improve or failed. And Allah knows best.

I'm not a TJ, yet it was the effort of the TJ's that brought me a little closer to the deen. Did I advance, progress, digress, find flaws - Allah knows best :)

Dr Israr Sahab RA spent three days with TJ. He spoke about it in one of his lectures.

Many Pakistani cricketers are associated with TJ.

Shaykh Abu Zayd Zameer HA also spent 4 months with TJ, then moved to the Salafi manhaj, and is now popular among IT professionals in Western India.

You can't compare DZN (or any other scholars) with a Tablighi Sathi. DZN has more knowledge and dedicated his full life to Dawah. Tablighis are part-timers. Joustling between the work of Dunia and Deen, common people, and non-scholars

I agree with you. All the tableeghi saathees put together are nothing before DZN. His results are visible, tens of thousands of non-muslims have reverted with his efforts.

What can a single tableeghi saathee project, what are the results after his 30 /40 years of efforts, nothing visible, DZN is everywhere. His results are available on social media.
