Excerpt from Abul Hassan Ali Nadwi رحمة الله عليه speeches given in India.

Gentlemen! Realize that your role in this society is that of a guide and a leader. It is intolerable for me that others dare to tell Muslims how they should lead their lives.

Who on earth has a right to address Muslims this way?

Shall there come another prophet after Prophet of Arabia?

Shall there be revealed another book of guidance after the Quran?

Shall there be made another law for us in place of Law of Muhammad (saw)?

Prophet of Allah alone is our guide, and Allah’s revealed Book, the Quran and His Prophet’s example our only companions.

Dear Muslims! Be determined before you leave this place that you shall live in this country as true Muslims, holding Allah’s Book and the Prophet’s practice dearer than your own lives and be always prepared to make any sacrifice in face of a challenge to this life style.

If this is your decision, a life of honour and eminence awaits you.

“Do not lose heart or despair, if you are true believers you have the upper hand” (3:139)

This is a short audio clip about Ali Miyan Sahab RA.

Shah Abdul Qadir Raipuri RA asked Ali Miyan Sahab RA to write a book explaining Qadiyanis. Ali Miyan Sahab RA referred to Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as "Mirza Sahab" throughout the book. Ataullah Shah Bukhari RA objected to honoring the kazzab (liar). Ali Miyan RA responded that the intended audience of his book was the Qadiyanis and he wrote the book to invite them to Islam, and he could not do that if he addressed their leader with disrespect.

Shah Abdul Qadir Raipuri RA was also very concerned about calling the Qadiyanis to Islam.

I did hear one of the Ulemah from Pakistan, mention in an audio lecture. A few years ago.

That this policy of Ostracising and boycotting the Qadiyanis. Without any concern for doing Dawah to them has been counter productive.

It has led them to seek asylum in western countries. And under the patronage and funding of these western countries. They have opened centers across the globe. They went from a few hundred thousand followers and are now in the millions.

Shaykh Abu Hassan Ali Nadwi had unique forsight in addressing these type of issues.

Shaykh, i agree with your point of view. What works in one situation might not be suitable for another. Tafaqquh (deep insight) is required to discern this.

In the aap beeti (autobiography) of Hazrat Sheikh Zakariya RA, he related how his father brought him up in a manner that few ulama (scholars) would likely advise today. That upbringing made Hazrat Sheikh Zakariya RA who he was. If anyone attempted something similar today, the chances are high the child would grow up with psychological issues.

Another incident is related by Mufti Taqi Usmani HA about Maulana Muzaffar Husain Kandhlavi RA. He traveled to a town once where none of the Muslims offered prayers and the local mosque was deserted.

Maulana learned that people followed the example of their leader in that town. Maulana gave dawah to their leader to be punctual with the daily prayers at the mosque so that others would also follow his lead.

The leader said I am willing to offer prayers but I refuse to perform ablutions (wudu). Maulana asked him to pray without wudu.

Mufti Taqi HA says if we look into the books of fiqh, they tell us the masla that anyone who knowingly offers prayers without ablution has committed kufr (disbelief). So what would be the opinion regarding someone who calls towards praying without wudu?

Mufti Taqi HA further says that merely knowing the Shariah is insufficient. Tafaqquh (deep insight) is required to judge when and how to apply its rulings.

The effect of Maulana Muzaffar Husain Kandhlavi RA's dawah was that the leader soon began offering prayers regularly with ablutions and also repented from his other sins.

The Quran also advises that some people should dedicate themselves to acquire tafaqquh so that they can guide the community effectively.
