Eid Crescent To Be Searched On Thursday

RIYADH: The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called upon citizens and residents to search for the crescent of Shawwal 1444 on the evening of 29th Ramadan 1444 corresponding on Thursday, 20 April 2023.

The court has further instructed to report any sightings to any nearest court.

The main sightings will take place in the towns of Sudair and Tumair where it is believed the Crescent is most likely to easily observed due to the elevation and weather of the area.

Numerous Astronomers including the International Astronomical Center have said that there slim chances of the Crescent to be observed on Thursday and Eid Al Fitr is likely to fall on Saturday, 22 April.

Previous experience is, moon was sighted when moon was there on horizon for 6 minutes.

This year it is 25+ minutes.... I think, as usual it is on friday

Declaration for the month of Shawwāl 1444

*Local Sighting Report: Negative*
*Foreign Sighting Report: Negative*

Therefore, the Islamic month of Ramaḍān will complete 30 days and Shawwāl will start after Maghrib on Friday 21st April. *The first day of Shawwāl / EID-UL FITR will be Saturday, 22nd April 2023*.

Highly possible they saw another planet like we had today from North England!

Moonsighting was verified from Preston and seen by a few people. Verified by an imam too. However, what they saw was not the moon. What they saw was too high up from the horizon and too thick and wide.

What they saw in Preston was most likely Venus. (Sky map shows Venus in that location)

Other images turned up too, showing 2 "hilals" so obviously it wasn't the moon.

The new rule is, "X-ray" vision and sighting before Maghrib in Saudi and then announcing Eid during dhohar time elsewhere around the world.

So it's either Sunnah or not Sunnah!

How is this justified that message must go out of Saudi, but saudi won't take testimony from other countries. Last year Afghanistan, Waziristan, Mali declared eid a day before Saudi. What stopped Saudi authorities from taking testimony from Afghanistan, Afghanistan is East of Saudi.

Wifaq didn't get testimony of positive physical hilal sighting, so they declared accordingly.

If UK muslims need unity, saudi followers must postpone their eid for a day, but don't fast on friday. This happened many times in India. Wifaq can't be compelled to miss a fast.
