I recall when I was younger, a local Masjid made an appeal for Qarz-e-Hasana loan from its congregation.

I don't remember what was said etc, but I recall they were talking about building facilitied for the women, not so far from the mosque. Or it was going to be used by the Masjid.

Anyways, money was donated, the property was purchased and put up for rent! I know of some of the people who donated and were fuming with the committee.

I guess they use the income from that property to help in the maintenance of the Masjid, and Allah knows best, but this sort of thing does happen.

That can come under breach of contract. But can be forgiven by the locals.

Brother, my relatives are Committee members. I have first hand knowledge from the Presidents of Masajid. Their are court documents and numerous Masjids with open court cases. No one is making presumptions.

What is the job market like for imamat in canada if a single british recently graduated alim was looking to move there or try it out.

Visa wouldn't be a problem under IEC scheme.

International Experience Canada (IEC) gives youth (18 to 35) the opportunity to travel and work in Canada for up to 2 years. The type of work permit you get for Working Holiday is an open work permit. This lets you work for almost any employer in Canada (some exceptions apply).

My brother is an Imam and in East Canada at the moment. But just recently got let go from his Masjid because they didn't have funds to pay him. It's a soft barelwi organization that has over 10 Masjids under it's Umbrella. They get mortgages to make these places. They are expanding in West and East Canada.

We were living in West Canada before some years back. My brother had to leave 2 Masjids because of the Tablighi struggle.

Within Toronto, it's still possible to find Imamat. All big Masajid have 2-3 sometimes 4 Imams.
West and East Canada is where there is a high demand. Sadly it's rare for new graduates to want to move in either direction from Toronto. The big cities in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta have Ulama but not as much as is needed. Alot of of small towns have Masjids. Muslims are practically everywhere. But there is a shortage of Imams.

Golden Rules for anyone doing Imamat:
1. Don't listen to the person(s) who is always coming upto you and spreading hearsay with regards to the committee. This is Shaitaan.

2. They will all do Dawats in the beginning. Keep your distance. You have to gauge when to accept and whose to accept.

3. Always be on time.

4. Keep your private life private.

5. Your Daily Mamoolat and Islaahi progress are the most important things. As long as you build your connection with Allah the people's connection will grow with you. (You will be shocked at the lack of this)

The Imams job is to fix the mind set of people. To essentially bring people away from materialism and towards Ibaadat.

This is just some stuff I saw people struggle with. It's a difficult task. I have the utmost respect for people that have the courage to do Imamat.
