I quote from thesis paper by a brother presented for Phd in UK university.
Metcalf (1996a) provides a brief background to the Tablighi Jamaat in America and Europe. She focuses on how Tablighi Jamaat has become an influential transnational Islamic revival movement. Finally, Metcalf points out that the Tablighi Jamaat movement contributed on the process of building mosques in various parts of the world including the UK. Since the Tablighi Jamaat is a mosque centered movement, they prioritized the establishment of many mosques as they can in order to carry out dawah.
End of quote:
To back up this research, I would, if permitted, present contribution of TJ in establishing masjids, Musallahs and madrasahs in my City.
Today in my city there are 1055 Masjids and 240 musallahs (to offer daily salah with jamaat )
750 masjid have five Amaal of tableeg.
In our young days there were places without a masjid or nearest masjid was 3 kms, (with bad roads). Distance from 2 masjids ranged from 2 to 10 kms. This has changed. Majority of these 1000 masjids, motivation, major contribution was from TJ influenced families.
These 244 musallah are established all over the city, in business hubs, near industrial areas, TJ influenced here. It is true if TJ claims it is for 99%.
1. But in the past tabhlighees did motivate to build masjids. Could be a thatched hut or tin structure. I don't know about UK.
2. I have heard, many managements of masjid telling tablighees "The structure is here, it is your duty to fill it with musallees"
This cannot be undone and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.
