We are living in a time where there is drought of good character. If someone lacking in knowledge, their good character will makeup for that shortcoming. However if someone lacks character, their great knowledge will not make up for that deficiency. Someone has flaws but their good character will cover them. Someone possesses all virtues but bad character will conceal them.
(1) Prayer
Our Prophet
prolonged his prayer, Allah restrained this so as one should pray in moderation.
“We have not sent down to you the Quran that you be distressed†(20:2)
(2) Charity
Should we give away all the money? Allah restrained this so one should spend in moderation.
“or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.†(17:29)
This is mentioned to Prophet
that one shouldn’t spend everything but save as well.
(3) Inviting People to Allah
Prophet
was engrossed in calling people to Allah. Allah restrained this so one should do this in moderation.
“So do not let yourself perish over them in regret.†(35:8)
Call people to Allah but don’t destroy yourself. This is despite calling people to Allah is such a noble task.
(4) Character
But when it came to character, Allah didn’t restrain rather commended Prophet
.
“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.†(68:4)
