If it was up to us, we wouldn’t even want to drink water with our hands prefer to get someone else to hold the glass for us. This is our disease. Allah loves humility. Allah loves those who serve others. Serving others is means of obtaining Allah’s assistance. And is a way to control the lower self (nafs).
Ibn Umar reported: Prophet

(Al-Mujum al-Aswat 6/139)
One man came to see Yusuf Kandhlawi رحمة الله عليه, author of Hayatus Sahabah. He asked ” Where is Scholar?” He was replied “Do you not see the man placing the bread on tablecloth?” He was surprised as he expected to see someone with a big robe, reclining against a big cushion or entering with flair. Instead he is serving food to others like average person.
Once an officer who was acquainted with Ilyas Kandhlawi رحمة الله عليه wanted to visit his son, Yusuf Kandhlawi رحمة الله عليه. He asked “Where is Scholar?” He was directed upstairs where he saw Yusuf رحمة الله عليه grinding spices, Inamul Hasan رحمة الله عليه cutting onions and another person was kneading dough.
When are we going to lower ourselves? When will we learn humility? When will we stop following our whims?
To have very high opinion of oneself is a punishment of Allah!
To be deluded with oneself, finding faults in others, considering oneself to be clever and others foolish, temparement of always elevating oneself and ordering others.
