At one time the committee of Darul Uloom Deoband came to Hazrat Maulana Rashid Ahmad Gangohi rah with a similar situation.
An influential faasiq fujjar individual had threatened to close down the madrassa if he was not included in the shura of darul uloom. The committee was inclined to have him in the shura to avoid fitnah and facing any other trouble or unpleasant situation.
What maulana Gangohi rah said should be imprinted in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
The gist of what he said was " If this is the case than let the madrassa close today , let it close now but we will never include any undeserving and faasiq in the shura of the madrassa. The goal is not running the madrassa but pleasure of Allah in all situations and at all times.
That individual was then not included in the shura of darul uloom deoband.
As of today, Darul Uloom Deoband is still up and running
