Don't want to sound takfiri but truth is those people are probably Muslim by name anyway. They are at most cultural Muslim. Their main religion is liberalism. Many of the people upset about tate being Muslims will also call many sahaba misogynist and reject many ayah/hadith which goes against liberal world order. Check out mohammed hijab recent video on sapiance institute channel he mentioned ayah about men being degree above women and a feminist objects to that ayah live in the lecture.

Unfortunately even so called practising and ulema fall for this too. We view everything in the lens of kuffar and their standards. Example no crime and sin should hurt us more than kufr and shirk yet half Don't feel anything but get upset over murder or rape etc .

You are so right brother. Kufr and shirk should give rise to convulsive revulsion in a believer. But it is these minor non issues (like men being qawwamun) that's getting so many nominal Muslims riled up. Sad.

But some blame is with us. Why don't ulema EVER talk about what being a man is in Islam or rights of husband. Instead we have these simp and compassionate imams telling women be strong independent women and you don't need to obey husbands

This doesn't come across correctly. Or I'm misunderstanding something.

Women have rights, men have rights. If the women are ill treated, then they should be strong and stand up for their rights. The women should know their rights.

A good husband will always have their wife's rights in mind and he shouldn't really cross the boundary.

Shaykh Riyadh Ul Haq speaking about this celebrity Muslim thing, 25 years ago is very far-sighted on his part, Ma Sha Allah. Though I don't get who was this problem about, back then? Princess Diana maybe? Michael Jackson? About Diana, people in Pakistan used to say she had converted to Islam towards the end of her life, probably because of her association with that rich Egyptian man.

At the end of the day, it is about following Islam which is the perfect balance. Otherwise, it is quite easy to cross the line into misogyny while opposing feminism. And this applies to refuting any "-ism". If the balance (as instructed by Islam) is lost, then one is more than likely just following the Nafs and feeling good about oneself.

All the "isms" are pretty much the fabrication of a victim mentality that has been used and propagated successfully to achieve success by the Holocaust fabricators. Muslims should not worry about appearing like they belong to one of the categories of "isms". We just need to practice Islam as the Prophet (saw) taught us which is what pleases Allah. Political correctness is one of the evils of these times.

Bismillah.

Shaykh used to hold classes in my local city I occasionaly attended those. And I also bought a huge collection of his audio cassettes.

I disposed of my audio collection years ago, but in those days you would buy audio cassettes and listen to them over and over again they were the main source of knowledge, that quote amongst many others has remained in my mind. I dont recall him mentioning any specific names.

The 1990's were an interesting time.
In those days muslims would spread unsubtantiated rumours about various celebrities being interested in Islam or embracing Islam.

And if any celebrity or academic or political figure stated anything positive about Islam or about a positive experience of visiting a muslim countries muslims would get excited about it and disemminate it. Conversley the tabloid press would publish it and then castigate them for saying something positive about Islam.( On a sidenote whilst Muslims in North America faced the brunt of Islamaphobia and media villification post 9/11, here in the U.K. it had been prevalent for many years prior. Muslims would in those days latch on to any type of praise from non-muslims and rumours of people embracing Islam).

Out of the personalities you mentioned, rumours about Princess Diana wanting to embrace Islam had been around for a couple of years. She had according to the British media wanted to marry a British Pakistani Cardiologist Dr Hasanat Khan and was willing to convert . He decided against marrying her. And subsequently she met Dodi Al Fayed some months prior to her death with whom she died with in a car crash.

In anycase the general gist of Shaykh Riyadh Ul Haqs talk from what I recall was, we believe in Islam because of its the truth and this obsession of muslims with other issues and personalities was irrelevant. For example Muslim also had an obsession with Science at that time, his argument was Scientist say one thing then they say something totally opposite a few years later or even a few months later. Science is always in flux and flow it should not be made into an obsession. Muslims also looking for symbols some one had discovered the name of ALLAH in arabic written in a tomatoe when they sliced it. This was displayed by the person muslims queued up to look at it, the Tabloids wrote about it mockingly referring to it with headlines of Holy Tomatoe.

I dont think Shaykh was being far sighted, he often spoke about the situation prevalent at that time. Only thing is alot of the social topics and the mindset of muslims and the problems affecting us as a community and the geo-politics he spoke of then are even more prevalent today. And have even multiplied.

And ALLAH knows best.

Brother, this is eye opening. I never knew Muslims in the UK had it so tough. I thought the global vilification of Muslims only really became prominent post 9/11. The fact that it existed openly in many places around the world even before 9/11 tells me how difficult life has been for Muslims living there. My respect for Muslims living as minorities in foreign lands grew immensely after reading about this. I always thought many countries just viewed their immigrant Muslim population as some benign albeit backward community that for the most part kept to themselves.

Some say he made this statement just before he became Muslim. ALLAH knows best. He subsequently and quite openly claimed to be Muslim whilst in Romania and during each of his court appearances he carried a translation of the Quran with him to court and to openly declare he has left the Romanian national religion of Orthodox Christianity to become Muslim during a court trial took courage considering how anti-Islam these Eastern European countries are. (although one could argue his overall behaviour since his Shahadah has not been very Islamic and he is completely ignorant concerning the basics of deen)

He got imprisoned in Romania three weeks after his Shahadah. And I doubt there are any Islamic study circles in that country in order to learn the Deen.

Perhaps the problem is some of these brothers collecting Shuhadahs like they are collecting trophies. A person vaguely expresses an interest in Islam. Then they suddenly start badgering " You need to take Shahadah right now you could die tomorrow and tomorrow is not guaranteed". True but at the same time if ALLAH has written for someone to embrace Islam, then will they not be guided before their death?

How about these Dawah guys ensure the person understands Islam and is certain that it is the truth. Before they take their Shahadah?

I would've said more or less the same thing as you have just said. That's why I had to watch the video and realise where I was wrong.

Having said that, his latest "stunt" was very recent at the start of the Olympics where he openly declared that he was a Muslim whilst protesting the blasphemy upon Jesus (a.s)

So while in Romania, he did clearly declare that he was a Muslim and wasn't hybrid and Allah knows best
