Bismillah.

I have elderly friend and neighbour who took his Shahadah last week.
He also has serious health issues and is housebound.

In his journey towards Islam most of
Our discussions were on comparative religion mostly between Islam and Christianity.

And consisted of watching many videos of Western converts of Islam mainly from a Christian back ground.
Which convinced him Islam is the truth and clarified any misconceptions he had.

Considering his age and ill health and his inability to physically attend any classes or limited ability to participate in webinars.

I am at a loss as how to guide him or what type of programme to follow to increase his knowledge of Islam etc.

Any resources or names of Scholars who specialise in this area of working with new muslims would be appreciated.

Allah reward you for your efforts and everyone involved.

It's a shame that we, as Hanafi's, are still stuck in basics whilst Dawah has really been doing well in other schools. TJ'ism is no good for reverts but that's for another topic on its own

IERA as far as I am aware, are Ghair Muqallid doing a great job in Dawah and helping reverts and may Allah reward them all. I won't discourage its use as the brother is elderly and homebound, let him gain the rewards of the deen and see its beauty as much as possible, from anywhere that has authentic sources. I would only highlight this so others are aware of the basic background. They have also been in the spotlight from the media asking them to stay away from certain groups. And Allah knows best.

Bismillah.

Yes the Hanafis are miles behind in terms of Dawah and support for new muslims.

There are load of issues in this situation....not just learning and practicing Islam which is challenge in it self given his health and living conditions.

This brother is very ill if he passes away then how will his Janazah and burial be organised. And how are we going to find the funds for it.

As far as organised and specific learning programmes for new muslims. Where people like my friend can build a network and interact with other new muslims and benefit from other new muslims experience.

The only organisations I have found who offer that extra support are. IERA and the Islamic Foundation in Leicester who have been doing this since 1993.

Bismillah.

Anyone know of good audio lectures for new muslims.

If one looks at lectures in English from the perspective of a new muslim. The sheer number of arabic phrases can be confusing and cause misunderstanding. For someone who does not know what they mean.

"Dhuniya , Akhirah, Jannah, Jahannum, so on and so forth.

You can download YouTube videos various ways.

I use Tubemate (not available via any app store, you will have to download the app from searching for it in Google) to download YouTube videos.

Here are 3 videos, 5 hours, 1 hour and 0.23 hours
