Yes but haqqanis jostling for power is a manufactured lie by the opposition. There is a section of Afghan community that hates Pakistan therefore they'll always be propaganda against Pakistan through others. Before the government was announced, it was about Pakistan drones and military in Panjshir and generals in Kabul.

India's Goswami lampooned after claiming ISI agents are staying on 5th floor of two-storey Kabul hotel

Firebrand Indian television anchor Arnab Goswami was left red-faced when his "intelligence" regarding Pakistan Army's alleged presence in Afghanistan's Panjshir valley backfired, becoming the fodder of countless memes on Pakistani as well as Indian Twitter space.

Goswami, who is notorious for his war-mongering and aggressive journalism that supports the interests of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, made the faux pas when he claimed that Pakistan Army officers were staying on the fifth floor of the luxury Serena Hotel in Kabul — apparently to support the Taliban in their fight against resistance fighters in Panjshir.

The bellicose anchor's claim was quickly exposed, however, because the Serena Hotel in Kabul only has two floors — not five.

In his programme 'The Debate' on Republic World TV channel last week, Goswami had invited an Indian analyst as well as PTI spokesperson Abdul Samad Yaqoob — to represent Pakistan — in a discussion on what the channel termed a "big split" within the Taliban, who seized control of Afghanistan last month.

When Yaqoob challenged the claims Goswami had attributed to his sources in Afghanistan, the anchor went on the defence and claimed that his information had proven to be true, including that the resistance fighters in Panjshir had not given up and Pakistani forces were "retreating" from the valley.

Goswami then addressed Yaqoob and said: "You go and check today ... on the fifth floor of the Serena Hotel, I am telling you, please check, fifth floor of the Serena Hotel in Kabul, how many Pakistani army officers are there?"

He then doubled down on his claim, saying he could even provide the room numbers of the Pakistani officers.

"I can also maybe tell you what they ordered for dinner so don't question my intelligence sources," he continued. "We've got all our aerial surveillance on you people."

A day later, Yaqoob was back on Goswami's programme and countered the anchor's claim by saying: "What I got to know from my sources [is that] Serena has only two floors. There are no third, fourth or fifth floors."

A sheepish look hidden behind a forced laughter was Goswami's only response.

After the amusing exchange went viral on Sunday, netizens from Pakistan and India alike called out Goswami for making false claims, with the hashtags #ArnabGoswami and #ISIon5thFloor attracting thousands of tweets.

"Dear #ArnabGoswami this is Serena hotel Kabul I am still unable to find out fifth floor?" an Indian user tweeted, sharing a picture of the hotel's facade which showed only two storeys.

A receptionist at the Serena Hotel confirmed to Geo.tv that the property has only two floors.

Chinese journalist Shen Shiwei too exposed Goswami's claims by sharing images of the hotel.

One user rotated a picture of the hotel and mused that Goswami was perhaps counting its floors vertically.

Journalist Sumaira Khan shared a picture of pigeons at the Serena Hotel, writing: "#ArnabGoswami might be mistaking these pigeons at Serena with ISI guys."

PTI spokesperson Yaqoob himself joined the fun by sharing the cover page of a novel titled 'The Fifth Floor'. He captioned the picture: "Arnab's Intelligence Source."

An Indian blogger put it succinctly when he said: "No one does fake news with the confidence of Arnab Goswami — it's just that he's caught with his pants down this time."

No sane person in India takes Goswami seriously. He's a caricature of journalism, if ever there was one. Ever since his humiliation by the state government in Bombay, his public image is now mostly in tatters. Most opposition commentators don't even dignify his existence with a mention in their programs. He is a "has been" and is now just content for memes. He's probably grateful to Pakistani media for running his story because at this point in his career, any publicity is good publicity.

Some Muslims are making absolutely idiotic comments about the "inclusive" govt. Inclusive govt. is the West's codeword for everything that goes against Shariah. For the Taliban to even promise that without conviction is not a smart idea at all.

In this era of fitnah, any Muslim country that gets isolated by the kuffar should consider it an absolute blessing.

I dont know where you are getting your news from. But that is clear nonsense.

Refuted by Mullah Baradar himself when the propaganda first came out.

This propaganda is what the Americans call Psyops. Or psychological warfare.

Bismillah.

I would just like to point out that when it comes to reporting on foreign news. There is a great deal of co-ordination between the Media  organisations and their governments in the west. As to what propaganda angle to take. In America its the State Department and in the U.K. its the Foreign and Commonwealth office.

Because all the western news organisations are taking the same propaganda angle. Then know that it is a co-ordinated campaign the rest of the news organisations in the west take their lead from the American and British media. But because the propaganda is so synchronised. It creates an impression in the minds of a naive public that it must be true "because they all the media are reporting it and they cant all be lying".

I am old enough to remember the Babies in incubators propaganda which was mentioned in the post by Maulana Yasin linked below.... Trotted out by the Americans to create support for the first gulf war. A young teenage girl the daughter of Kuwaits Ambassador to America. gave tear filled and heart wrenching testimony of how she had seen babies in incubators being butchered by Iraqi troops in a Kuwaiti hospitals. The wests media and politicians latched on to this it was repeated all over the world. Even so-called human rights organisations. Like Amnesty International initially came out and verified it only to later retract. It was later established as a complete fabrication co-ordinated by the Whitehouse and the Kuwaiti royal family.

As for now in 2021 the whole Taliban are haters of women and despise women. Is the propaganda line being persued and was being persued weeks before the Taliban had even come to power.

The other propaganda angles about internal disputes or strife with in the Taliban themselves. This is again part of what the Americans call psychological operations. It is designed to disunite and cause confusion amongst the Taliban and to dishearten those who support them. It is something they have done in the past. For example during the invasion of Afganistan in 2001 the Americans kidnapped and arrested both the Taliban foreighn Minister and the Taliban ambassador to Pakistan. But sent out a press release saying they had both defected and had sided with the American invaders.

The Americans also did the same upon the invasion of Iraq in 2003 claiming the Iraqi prime minister Tariq Aziz and several others had defected.

As for the Anti-Pakistan propaganda. During the war with Soviet Union the Pakistanis were the ones charged with dealing with the frontlines and co-ordinating with the frontlines( By the Americans and The Arab Gulf States) Most leaders of the various Mujahadeen factions would spend time in Pakistan. The Pakistanis also helped in the training camps for the Mujahadeen.

Therefore Pakistanis acquiered considerable influence in Afghanistan.

After Americas invasions in 2001 the Pakistanis were reluctant to go along with everything the Americans were proposing. The Americans angered by this decided to curtail Pakistans influence. The Americans along with India funded a propaganda campaign in Afghanistan against the Pakistanis. In co-ordination with the Karzai and Ashraf Ghani governments. The propaganda was very simple the Pakistanis are jealous, they look down upon Afghans, they want to keep the Afghans subjugated enslaved and beholden to Pakistan.

This propaganda has been done relentlessly on a daily level with not a day going by without some sort of anti-pakistan story over the last 20 years. An entire generation has grown up being told the Pakistan is responsible for all the strife in their country. From the daily murders, kidnappings, to drug addiction and smuggling... All of it is Pakistans fault. The propaganda has been so effective that many Afghans hate Pakistanis more then the Americans.

India has actively played a part in fomenting unrest in Pakistan by playing up sectarian, linguistic, and regional divides. It has also undertaken infrastructure projects in Afghanistan to generate goodwill and counter Pakistani influence. The rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan has completely shattered their strategic gains in the region.

However, there is a section of the Pakistani establishment and intelligentsia who are working against Pakistan's interests for their own material benefit, and they are a greater danger than any external enemy.

Pakistan is the only nation on the planet that was established solely for the sake of Islam. It has the potential to galvanize the entire Muslim population stretching from Kashgar to Baku, and Western imperialist forces are aware of this. After having destroyed the Ottoman Caliphate, they now fear this region to be the next epicenter for a possible revival of the Caliphate. Considering the humiliation they faced for over 800 years at the hands of the previous Caliphate, Western imperialists will do everything in their power to prevent a revival here.

Yes, there were secularists involved in the creation of Pakistan. This is because the freedom movement against the British required people at the forefront who were educated in the English system and could communicate with the British in the language and style they were familiar with. But, there were also people involved at various levels in the hierarchy who genuinely believed that the proclamation of faith (Kalima) was the guiding principle of the movement for Pakistan.

Also, while Pakistan has a lot of problems today (and which country in that region doesn't?), it has managed to survive for 70 years despite a belligerent and powerful enemy right next door. Muslims in the subcontinent are infinitely better off having two countries (Pakistan and Bangladesh) to call their own, as is evident from what is happening to Muslims in India currently.

EXCLUSIVE Afghan central bank drained dollar stockpile before Kabul fell - document

FRANKFURT/MUMBAI, Sept 29 (Reuters) - The Afghan central bank ran down most of its U.S. dollar cash reserves in the weeks before the Taliban took control of the country, according to an assessment prepared for Afghanistan's international donors, exacerbating the current economic crisis.

The confidential, two-page brief, written early this month by senior international economic officials for institutions including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, said the country's severe cash shortage began before the Taliban took control of Kabul.

It criticised how the central bank's former leadership handled the crisis in the months before the Taliban's conquest, including decisions to auction unusually large amounts of U.S. dollars and move money from Kabul to provincial branches.

"FX (foreign exchange) reserves in CB's (central bank) vaults in Kabul have depleted, the CB cannot meet ... cash requests," the report, seen by Reuters, said.

"The biggest source of the problem is the mismanagement at the central bank prior to the Taliban takeover," it added.

Shah Mehrabi, chairman of the central bank's audit committee who helped oversee the bank before the Taliban took over and is still in his post, defended the central bank's actions, saying it was trying to prevent a run on the local Afghani currency.

The extent of the cash shortage can be seen on the streets of Afghan cities, where people have been queuing for hours to withdraw dollar savings amid strict limits on how much they can take out.

Even before the shock of the Western-backed government's collapse, the economy was struggling, but the return of the Taliban and abrupt end of billions of dollars in foreign aid has left it in deep crisis.

Prices for staples like flour have spiralled while work has dried up, leaving millions facing hunger as winter approaches.

AID DRIES UP

Under the previous government, the central bank relied on cash shipments of $249 million, delivered roughly every three months in boxes of bound $100 notes and stored in the vaults of the central bank and presidential palace, according to three people with direct knowledge of the matter.

That money has dried up as foreign powers shy away from dealing directly with the Taliban, which fought against foreign troops and the ousted government. Thousands of people - many of them civilians - died.

The central bank, which plays a key role in Afghanistan because it distributes aid from countries like the United States, said on Wednesday it had finalised a plan to meet the country's foreign currency needs. It gave no details.

The hard currency crunch is making it difficult for the Taliban to meet basic needs, including paying for power or dispersing salaries to government employees, many of whom have not been paid in months.

Afghanistan's roughly $9 billion of offshore reserves were frozen as soon as the Taliban captured Kabul, leaving the central bank with just the cash in its vaults.

According to the report, the central bank auctioned off $1.5 billion between June 1 and Aug. 15 to local foreign exchange dealers, which it said was "strikingly high".

"By August 15, the Central Bank had an outstanding liability of $700 million and 50 billion Afghanis ($569 million) towards the commercial banks," it said, adding that this had been a major factor in emptying its coffers.

Afghan central bank official Mehrabi said, however, that although almost $1.5 billion of auctions had been announced, the actual amount sold was $714 million.

He said the central bank had "continued its foreign exchange auction to reduce the depreciation and inflation."

MONEY MISSING?

The report also questioned a decision by the central bank to shift some of its reserves to provincial branches, putting it at risk as Taliban militants made advances across the country from late 2020 in the runup to their victory.

It said around $202 million was kept in these branches at the end of 2020, compared with $12.9 million in 2019, and that the cash was not moved as provinces started to fall to the insurgents.

"Some money is reportedly lost (stolen) from 'some' of the provincial branches," the report said, without specifying how much.

Mehrabi said the central bank was investigating money "stolen" from three of its branches, although not by the Taliban. He gave no further details.

Former central bank governor Ajmal Ahmady, who left the country the day after Kabul fell, did not respond to emails and other messages requesting comment on his and the bank's actions in the months before the Taliban returned to power.

Ahmady has said on Twitter in recent weeks that he did his best to manage the situation, and blamed any cash shortfall on the freezing of central bank assets abroad.

In his statements, he also said the central bank had managed the economy well prior to the fall of Kabul and that he felt bad about leaving staff behind but feared for his safety. He has said no money was stolen from any reserve account.

Taliban are being driven into a corner. Into a state of desperation. Makes me think of that hadith about people with black banners coming from the east and asking for something good from the Arabs (not sure about the exact wording) and not getting it. Then they fight and become victorious and select Mahdi as the leader.

Taliban issues Joe Biden ultimatum over Afghan airspace

The group's chief spokesman accused Washington of violating a peace deal that was signed between the USA and the Taliban in Doha, Qatar in February 2020. In his warning, Mr Mujahid said: "We call on countries, especially the United States, to treat Afghanistan in light of international rights, laws and commitments... in order to prevent any negative consequences," said his statement on Twitter.

American forces withdrew from Afghanistan on August 30 after 20 years in control, and costing trillions of dollars, and many lives in the process.

However, Mr Biden has always maintained the notion of the USA having an 'over the horizon' capability in Afghanistan, allowing the military to strike terrorist targets in the country.

Although Mr Mujahid did not specify what the negative consequences would be, the continued presence of US drones in Afghanistan has become embroiled in controversy following an airstrike on August 29 in which the US targeted an ISIS-K target preparing an attack o Kabul airport, but instead, killing a family of 10 in the process.

US General Frank McKenzie stated not a single terrorist was killed in the failed counter-terrorism strike.

Another US General blamed the Doha talks for the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, resulting in many questioning whether the decision was made at the right time.

Speaking of the flaws in the agreement, General Mark Milley, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said: 'under the Doha agreement, the United States would begin to withdraw its forces contingent upon the Taliban meeting certain conditions, which would lead to a political agreement between the Taliban and the government of Afghanistan."

According to General Milley, there were 7 conditions in place.

He went on to say: "while the Taliban did not attack US forces, which was one of the conditions, it failed to fully honour any other conditions under the agreement. And, perhaps most importantly for US national security, the Taliban has never renounced al-Qaeda or broke its affiliation with them."
