"KARACHI (June 30, 2021): Prominent Islamic scholar Maulana Abdur Razzaq Iskander, president of Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia, passed away on Wednesday in Karachi.
According to Maulana Taha Rahmani, spokesperson of the federation of madrassas, the deceased was 87 years old and had been under treatment at a hospital for a long time.
The scholar's body had reportedly reached the Binori Town Mosque, where his funeral prayers will be held later in the evening.
Maulana Iskander was considered among one of the most influential scholars of the country, having authored several books in both Arabic and Urdu.
The religious scholar had served as the Shaikh-ul-Hadith of the Binori Town Madrassa after the martyrdom of late Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai. He was also the president of Iqra Roza-tul-Atfal Trust and Amir of the Aalami Majlis Tahaffuz Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Pakistan.
The renowned scholar is said to have spent his entire life in teaching and propagation of Islam.
Iskander was born in 1935 into a religious family in the village of Kakul, and completed his primary education and matriculation in his native village of Abbottabad. He later joined the Darul Uloom Chauhar Sharif Madrasa in Haripur and then went on to study at Ahmad-ul-Madaris in Sikandarpur.
In 1972, Maulana Iskander did a PhD from Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
Maulana Iskander had been serving as the president of Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia since 2017, and was also the chairman of its curriculum and examination committee."

"He was an authorized disciple of Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Ludhianvi Shaheed (RA) in Tasawwuf. His teachers include Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Banuri (RA) and Maulana Wali Hasan Tonki (RA).
Maulana Abdur Razzaq started his teaching career in 1955. He became the Shaykh al-Hadith (senior professor of hadith) of the Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia after Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai (RA), and the chancellor after the assassination of Maulana Habibullah Mukhtar (RA) in 1997. He was made a member of the working committee of the Wifaq ul Madaris in 1997 and appointed its vice-president in 2001. He later served as its interim president for nine months following the death of Maulana Saleemullah Khan (RA). He was appointed the president on 5 October 2017.
In 1981, he was elected a member of the executive council of the Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nubuwwat (AMTKN). In 2008, he was appointed the central deputy-emir following Hazrat Sayed Nafees al-Hussaini's (RA) death."
