Do you have any solid reason for drawing a conclusion like this? That people in power are using sihr. I mean, I would wonder about it, but obviously I do not have any evidence to state it conclusively.

Hope all the brothers and sisters are well due to immense grace of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.. and all ur near and dear ones are safe in these testing times of floods.. disease and insecurity.. and May Allah سبحانه وتعالى keep us All forever in his infinite shadow of Mercy and benevolence.. Ameen..

This thread seemed interesting and have been trying to post since last few days but something or other came in between.. anyway after about 6 months i have managed to take a few days off Alhamdulillah.. and May Allah سبحانه وتعالى give barakah in time.. Ameen..

The Question here is about Sihr being used for Manipulation by Politicians and Heads of state.

Before we discuss above i would like to make certain things clear for those who still are confused..

Following are Supernatural Feats as in Shar'i perspective:

1) Maujazah (Miracles) are performed by Prophets , Karamat (supernatural feats) by Auliya.. All by Allah's will.

2) Istidraj - Supernatural feats performed by evil doers diametrically opposite to Maujazah and Karamat as respite given to them by Allah سبحانه وتعالى like making Rain or rising the dead by Dajjal.

3) Illusory feats for eg by David Copperfield or the Magicians at the time of Hazrat Musa (Alaihis salam)

4) Sihr as in Black Magic where the Sahir works through Shayateen..

Hazrat Mufti Shafi Usmani رحمة الله عليه mentions in Ma'arif ul Qur'an:

In the terminology of the Holy Quran and Hadeeth, Sihr (magic) refers to all those usual happenings which have been brought about with the active help of the devils (Shayateen), won over through certain practices likely to please them. There are several ways of pleasing the devils.

Sometimes one sings in the praises of the devils, and sometimes recites formulas of a heretical nature which deny Allah or associate others with him. The worship of stars and planets also pleases the devils, as do certain evil deeds for example, preparing a charm with the blood of a person killed unlawfully, or refusing to adopt the prescribed modes of purifying oneself, or living constantly in the state of impurity. (Ma’ariful Quran p 270 v 1) ( LINK - 'The concept of Black Magic in Islam')

For a more detailed information on the classification of supernatural feats here is an excerpt from Shaykh Yusuf al-Nabhani (Allah have mercy on him) where he mentioned at the conclusion of his section on karamat and Mu'jizat in the introduction of his 900-page book Hujjat Allah `ala Alamin bi-Mu`jizat Sayyid al-Mursalin (p. 12-14) (LINK)

Both of these events will dazzle people and may appear to them like "Magic" and will affect them spectacularly to the extent that they will worship Dajjal as a deity.

IF someone has evidence from the Qur'aan and Sunnah to state that Magic causes material change then bring forth.

Nobody is denying that Magic is impactful and can cause problems, in fact it can impact people spectacularly
Nobody is denying Magic can be used to make political upheaval and uprisings because these require impacting people and their perception. Just asking to hear someone's point of view as to why they think so....It is entirely possible!
