This is another eye opener. During the fight against oppressor we are united, our behavior is the best. But during peace we fail miserably.

Summarized translation.

This message is for the whole Indian subcontinent, IPB.

Nations win war but fail during peace. Whatever capabilities we had during abnormal period, we won’t exhibit it during Normal times.
During war times our concentration to fight overshadowed our weakness. We Indians had weakness, freedom struggle overshadowed it.
We failed when Hysteria ended and the real test started.
Many are aabid zaahid till they get rich, wealth changes them.
We won’t get time for other things during war, but the real personality sitting in the base get exposed when smoke clears.
We are not worth it, we got exposed after the struggle, we are selfish. We don’t want to serve others. We have heart of a beast not a human heart.
In the past the heat of war had melted our differences.

When the whole society is corrupt, it is wrong to blame a few for the hardships the society faces.

When rulers get corrupt, nations get corrupt and when ulema get corrupt rulers get corrupt

Following is the rough translation of the page 150 of the book, (Tareekh e Dawat o Azeemat by Maulana Abul Hassan Ali Nadvi RH)

According to him i.e. Imam Ghazali Rh, the corruption of rulers is based upon the weakness and negligence of ulema.

“The conclusion is that people get corrupted because of the corruption of their rulers and the corruption of ulema is the reason why rulers get corrupted. This is because if there are no unjust judges and ulema e soo (scholars for dollars) then rulers can’t get corrupted and they would always fear that the ulema e haq would admonish them from doing evil. ”

Imam Ghazali Rh was unhappy with the ulema of his time for not doing amr bil maroof wan ahi anil munkar. Like the salaf, the ulema of his time stopped stating haq in front of evil rulers. The reason for this was that ulema themselves had developed a lust for dunia and self-praiseworthiness and vanity.

After giving examples of akabir ulema he stated

“This was the greatness and piety of ulema that while enjoining good and forbidding evil, they wouldn’t care about the grandeur and worldly status of kings and rulers. They had had tawakul in Allah’s blessings and mercy. And they were confident that Allah will protect them. And they were also content on the fact that if Allah has degreed martyrdom for them then so be it. This is because they had sincerity of intention. Because of their ikhlas, their naseeha had a profound effect on the other person. However, nowadays because of fear of losing dunia, the ulema are silent and if they open their mouth then their words and actions don’t match and because of this no one heeds to their advice. If today also, they become truthful and do their duty with honesty then they would definitely succeed.

This is because people get corrupted because of the corruption of rulers and rulers get corrupted because of the corruption of ulema. And the reason why ulema get corrupted is the love of wealth and vanity. Those who indulge in dunia too much, don’t even try to stop commoners from doing evil. What to talk about stopping the rulers and the elite. ”

You mean to say, Awwaam were all Junaid baghdadis, and ulema and rulers were to bw blamed. In the above quote, shaykh is blaming the awwam. The few in office of governance won't have the steering to control the masses. Masses themselves are corrupt.

Today in Pakistan, Bangladesh and other muslim countries, it is wrong to say that the society is corrupt because the rulers take guidance from ulema.

We are awwaam, let us read our responsibilities. And let ulema read their responsibilities.

Scholars and political leaders are like drivers of a bus. They have the steering wheel and they decide which direction the bus is going to head. The masses follow their leaders.

In the history of mankind, the prophets have been sent to nations who were corrupt. The majority of the prophets who were listened to by the majority and who successfully changed the condition of the majority were those Prophets who were bestowed Kingship along with prophethood. Take notice of the few known examples like Sayyidina Dawud عليه السلام, Sayyidina Yusuf عليه السلام, Sayyidina Suleman عليه السلام, Sayyidina Muhammad (s.a.w.). They were not merely Da'aees but were Rulers of their nations as well and as rulers they had the maximum share of influence over their people.

A state has vast resources of either educating and grooming the majority of the people or destroying them ethically, morally, spiritually and materially.

Destroy the administrative and judicial institutions of the west and I will see that for how long the Westerners will remain honest and truthful with each other. Implement a better political-socio-economic system with few able and honest men in the regions you mentioned and I will see how long it takes to rectify the condition of the people here.

Nations don't get corrected by some Tablighi or Sufi magic potion. It takes true honest leaders and true revolution to make a nation great.

The purpose of tabligh, madrassah and khanqah was to create such a team of revolutionaries. In the subcontinent they failed to produce one and (this is one of the reasons "People of the subcontinent are not a single nation ethnically, linguistically, culturally and racially" [it's just one factor]) but in Afghanistan they did succeed to create such a team.

So wait for another 1000 years and without extra ordinary leaders and extra ordinary measures under extra ordinary circumstances no amount of dawah, education, mystic feats or technology will be able to change the masses. Mark my words and show me these words after 40 or so years (if I am alive) if I am proven wrong as the time progresses.

You got it wrong. Rulers don't take guidance from the scholars anymore. The thing is that ulema have failed to distance themselves from democratic, dictatorial and other unislamic forces and have failed to inspire and initiate the masses towards a true Islamic revolution. This has resulted in further deterioration of the ummah despite of vast tablighi, sufi and ilmi efforts. These sacred and very important efforts do affect a small segment of the society but the masses will only be rectified by state institutions. You can't deny the whole human experience throughout a very long history of mankind.

Show me one example where people got corrected without a leader to inspire and lead. All the prophets were leaders and 99% of the prophets we know through Quran and Hadith who were listened to by the masses were rulers as well. So ruler-ship of the pious and able is necessary.

Ummah is hearing that for 70 years, when is that great leader coming. And do we just wait for him and do nothing?
When 100 crores Indians, 30 crore pakistanis turned into firaun and nimrood, I don't know how practically it is possible to change them through whip.

When is that leader coming?

Allah knows best.

Should we do nothing.

I didn't say so. We must do whatever we can but must not expect miracles. It is one thing to be unsuccessful in achieving a thing and totally a different thing to lose the correct judgement altogether. Even if our reality does not change, we must not allow our beliefs and judgement to be corrupted in order to suit our imagination or the wishes of our hosts.
