My wife has a history of heart trouble. She has already had a double bypass at a young age.
Today she is going into the hospital for an angiogram.

Inshallah, they will find nothing wrong, or only a problem that is easy to fix.

May Allah make it easy for both of you whatever the outcome. May Allah give you both, strength, patience, guidance, and understanding.

I am getting ready to take my son to hospital as well. They have finally found him a bed in a private room. He is a c.diff carrier so can't go on the general ward. Make dua for us as well.

May Allah سبحانه وتعالى ease all the troubles of both the brothers above.. Ameen..

do remember to give Sadaqah every now and then as possible.. or fix a certain percentage from ur income as per ur convenience for the same and see the results إن شاء الله ..

Update:

Her test showed no problems, only minor blockage that will probably take 20 years before any type of intervention is required.
Her problem seems to be related to medicine and a new medicine she was given should resolve it!

Very good news! We were both pretty sure she was looking at another bypass due to her symptoms and history.

So Jzk to you all for the Dua's!!

It turned out that my wife's arteries near her heart are prone to spasm's. This means the her blood vessels close or severely restrict the blood flow. It's a rare condition.

She never actually needed her initial bypass. In fact the bypass has closed, because it's not being used. Her body essentially rejected them, because the original pathways were fine.

Neither of us can blame the original surgeon. He was operating under the information he had at the time. Various test results, a strong family history of heart disease, her condition etc.

Her condition, before the latest test, had increased gradually since about July I think. Which (not so) coincidentally corresponded to a higher dose of the blood pressure medicine she had been taking since her original bypass.

Other than the spasming, most of her other symptoms are a result of side effects of that medication (not truly common, but not rare either).

Luckily this doctor actually used a second (smaller) catheter to check her heart when he found a closed (or partially closed) vessel. I don't know if he was just being thorough or was made curious by the lack of buildup in other vessels. He used the smaller catheter to "tap" on her arteries near her heart. When he did that, he caused it to spasm. Thus revealing the correct diagnosis.

I wanted to make my initial post more in depth, but I've been exhausted since the news. For month's we've been dreading what the cure to her symptoms would be and were reasonably sure that she would need another bypass. Because of that fear, she hadn't been willing to go to a cardiologist until the symptoms totally overwhelmed her.

Since the release of so much stress, we've both been exhausted. I''m not sure if I've ever been as tired as I have been in the past few days. Needless to say we're both resting a lot and much more comfortably. :)

Alhumdulillah :)

One important aspect that many of us miss is not thanking Allah.

We need to thank him when we are in the best of health, wealth and Imaan - that is very important, because when we need Him in dire situations we need to remember that we forgot Him when He was looking after us. As soon as He tests us, we remember Him. Of course He's always there for us, but we should do our part to and be grateful.

When we are sick, we still need to thank Him because it could've been worse.

When the Prophet (saw) would be ill, anyone that asked him how he was, he (saw) would reply, "Praise be to Allah in all health" (not exact wording)

Prophet (saw) prescribed the following for a companion who was in pain:
“…place your hand on the part of the body where the pain is and say, “bismillah” (بِسْمِ اللَّهِ) three times. Then say, “a’uthu billahi wa qudratihi min shari maa ajidu wa uhaadhir” (أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ) seven times – wiping the area each time.” (Sahih Muslim)

“Bismillah” means “in the name of Allah”.
Then
“A’uthu billahi wa qudratihi min shari maa ajidu wa uhaadhir” translates roughly as “I seek refuge in Allah and in His omnipotence from the evil (pain) that I find and I seek to avoid it.”

Of course if one experiences persistent pain one should visit a qualified health care professional, yet the Prophet’s (saw) advice can be followed before or after such a visit and can be accompanied any other remedies that may be prescribed.
