The best that I've found? I would have to go with my teachings as a young boy attending "Sunday School" classes. That's what I posted above about this.

This one?
This explanation is actually much better than what I've heard from evangelists and priests

Personally, I find this funny on a few different levels. During my "Sunday School" days and even beyond that, while I was a practicing Catholic, there was only one prayer I was able to memorize.
I'm not saying this to brag, but through at least the first 8 years of my education, I was considered "bright" and got good grades. Somehow, I still couldn't remember all the various other prayers, with the exception of this one.

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom (us to heaven) come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread (sustenance), and forgive us our debts (sins), as we also have forgiven our debtors (sinned against us). And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

I may be wrong, but isn't this a monotheistic prayer, based loosely on Islam?

That's why I find it funny. The only prayer I could memorize was a monotheistic one. Maybe I was truly destined to discover Islam.

The bracketed part are my own transliteration as per my meaning.

The prayer is nice. But we do not call God as father.

Rabb (Lord, God) can also mean father though (as per such Hadith)

In the bible Allah was called Father. Sheikh Deedat explained "language of the time" in a few of his talks. By it never meant biological father.

The prayer sounds right according to original monotheistic Christianity and without Shirk. Allahu A'lam

I thought Rabb only means Sustainer or Nourisher.

It makes me remember my all time favorite poem "The Toys" by Coventary Patmore which was part of our course in 12th grade.

Well, I did say "loosely" based.
Also, I don't use that prayer anymore, but simply mentioned it as it relates to my experience.

From islamqa.info

Quote:
We must beware of using confusing words which may cause a person to fall into something haraam or make people think badly of him, especially words which have to do with the Oneness of Allaah (Tawheed) and His Uniqueness in His names and attributes. For the rights of Allaah take precedence and must be taken care of, and we must avoid anything that may violate them, especially when those words are used by the Jews and Allaah quotes them in the Qur’aan in the context of condemnation.

“And (both) the Jews and the Christians say: ‘We are the children of Allaah and His loved ones.’ Say: ‘Why then does He punish you for your sins?’ Nay, you are but human beings of those He has created…”

[al-Maa’idah 5:18 – interpretation of the meaning]

And Allaah knows best.

Interesting.
I know I'm very new to the Quran, but my first impression was that it referred to Allahسبحانه وتعالى

Yes it refers to Allah SWT, my Rabb and your Rabb. And it means the Master or the One who provides nourishment or sustenance.
