السلام عليكم

Few Golden words from a local Tableeghi elder

" Problems begin when People (in Jamaat) instead of giving Dawah of Deen start giving Dawah of Tableeghi Jamaat.."

" People now say that the effect of going in Tableegh (these days) is not the same as it was during the times of Hazratji Maulana Inamul Hasan sahab رحمة الله عليه.. True.. since the Niyyah of people those days was of self rectification.. now people go with the intention of teaching others.."

wa Assalam..

Lessons Learned from the Third Chillah

1. Only the outer manifestation of a'maal is not enough. We need to realize and reach to the essence of a'maal too for which we need deep insight which is a result of high level of iman and sincerity.

2. Heard it from a respectable personality that La'ayani (Idle Talk) eventually leads one to kufr.

3. There is a karguzari of a jamaat from Kurdistan that when people were not enrolling for tabligh trips then the whole Kurd jamaat started offering 100 nawafil and one juz each. After doing these a'maal the maqamis started enrolling for tabligh.

4. The work of dawah is for one's own islah and to invite others to do their islah as well. This is the work of learning and not teaching. This is the last hope of protection from fitnas. This is the train of Sirat e Mustaqeem.

5. Drill this great effort in your blood to an extent that even if it is outlawed by the government, even then you are able to speak nothing else but "everything happens by the will of Allah and nothing happens without His permission and success is in the ways of the Prophet SAWS and nothing else". Hence, one dies while saying these words from the depth of one's heart.

6. Salah is the summary of complete deen. Whoever will work hard to make his salah perfect, he will improve in rest of his deen as well and who ever will neglect it will become weaker in the rest of his deen too.

7. Material means are not a reliable source for solving one's problems. However, the amaal of deen are an authentic source for Allah's help.

8. One will get guidance according to one's urge (talab). The collective actions of dawah, dhikr and ibadah and making dua from Allah i.e. the tarteeb of Tabligh is the surefire gurranttee of hidayah. The level of hidayah is in accordance to one's level of sincerity, focus, taqwa and devotion in these amaal. He who will be ungrateful and careless, will get no benefit out of it.

9. Nabi SAWS has made dua for those who do nusrah that may Allah feed and sustain their generations.

10. A saathi of Oman or another country got the visa of Pakistan after 30 years of wait. Another foreigner spent 18 lac ruppees to get Pakistani visa. We are living near Raiwind and yet we don't realize the status of this effort.

11. Although, it's difficult to convince your nafs to be silent despite of knowing something and to pose as ignorant even though you know. However, in these times of trial and fitan, it's better to remain silent and avoid debates. One should save himself by stating clearly that I am just a learner, I don't know. Mostly focus on fadhail. By observing the behaviour of the questioner one should try to deduce that whether this question is being asked to create mischief or any other ulterior motive. Those who oppose tabligh usually ask questions to create fasaad. One should avoid to give them room for any discussion. However, if anyone is really sincere then one should invite the sincere ones to the masjid and only reply to those queries which one has knowledge of. It is best to leave answers and discussions to ulema. Imam Malik Rh says that "I don't know" is the biggest shield of a saint. The first lesson of Imam Malik Rh for his disciples was to train them to say "I don't know".

12. The nafs is very naughty. It wants us to say such a thing which can make the other person speechless. However, it is the nafs which needs to be silenced which is indeed a very difficult task. To control one's nafs one has to keep one's ego in check. In order to humble your ego two things are needed. First is to instill the greatness of Allah in your heart so that the tree of tauheed grows big and strong. The second step is to face humiliation at the hands of one's opponents with patience. This develops strength in one's nafs to bear against it's will as well as stamina of digesting bitterness whenever one has to follow the orders of one's elders. Accepting defeat for the sake of Allah despite of being on the right side. Not taking vengance despite of having power to do so. Keeping one's tongue and hand in control while one is angry. Forgetting and forgiving the bitterness in a little amount of time. All of these qualities demand great mujahida of nafs. If it was so easy to become a real human then everyone would become a saint.

13. In longer tashkeels there is a lot of mujahida. Your companions may get angry and fussy. You face various difficulties. Sometimes the weather is harsh and sometimes you can't find even the basic facilities in masajid. Sometimes you can't find water while on other times you have to go to open fields in order to attend nature's call (because of lack of toilet). However, when at the end of your tashkeel you see people enrolling for khurooj then you forget all your tiredness and hardships. Smaller tashkeels have less mujahida and more facilities but are less fruitful as well.

14. The ameer sahab of a jamaat of Iran gave a piece of advice that Tabligh is the work of hosh (sensibility) and not josh (emotionality). All we can do is try and the result is in Allah's hand. Upon my asking he said that he was also very emotional at the beginning of his tablighi life. Then after seven years of consistent 4 months trip each year, his josh got settled down and he gained more hosh as the years passed and as he got more training of controlling the nafs. The work of tabligh affects gradually and not immediately.

15. There was an Irani saathi named Suleman who told the tarteeb of tabligh work in his area in the following words.

After fajr there is mashwara and then 2.5 hours of taleem. Then people go to work after having breakfast. Then after dhuhr prayer there is halqa of iman and then there are groups of three or four saathis. One group spends time in masjid from Duhr to Asr. The second group spends time from Asr till Isha. Unmarried men spend all night in the masjid in aitekaf. Married men spend half night at home and half night in the masjid. From each masjid one or two jamaats go for 3 days tabligh trip each week.

16. Neither the ameer should be too strict that the saathis get annoyed from tabligh nor should be too lenient that they treat the work of tabligh as picnic and take it too lightly. Whenever strictness is needed then correct amount of strictness is necessary and whenever it's ok to go easy then the ameer should be moderately lenient.

17. Intelligence is also a test from Allah and a severe one. We don't have to allow our nafs taking pleasure from logical and imaginary gymnastics. Don't read every tom, dick and harry. Only listen to the ulema you trust. Especially while learning the ilm of Quran and Sunnah. This way we will have pure knowledge of deen unpolluted from secular and phony ideas.

18. Neither do good manners come from bayans nor by reading books. Good manners only come by having the suhbah of good people. The more tender one's heart is the more one will benefit from the suhbah of good people. This is why mashaikh instruct their mureeds to do extensive dhikr of Allah.
The heart softens from dhikr and ibadah and through the work of tabligh one gets attracted to dhikr and majalis of aulia.

19. Summary of a bayan of Maulana Jameel Rh.
a. Material resources are minor means of sustenance and iman, good actions, good qualities are major means.
b. Material means are unreliable while spiritual means are reliable source of benefit.
c. Material means give benefit only for once. For example, you can buy a match box with the money spent only for once. In order to buy another match box you need to give more money. However, with spiritual means you get unlimited benefits in the form of unlimited favors and blessings in paradise.
Through the work of dawah...
. You become Allah's friend
. Allah will defend you
. Allah will help you
. Your sorrows will end
. Real honour
. Best life full of blessings
. Love in the hearts of people
. Barakah from the heavens
. Jannat ul Firdous
Allah will give wealth without effort. Will give things without wealth. However, in order to gain iman you have to make effort.
By narrating and reflecting upon the stories of anbiya your iman will increase rapidly. Especially those stories where Allah helped his Anbiya against zahir and against great odds.

20. If it is believed that anything or anyone other than Allah can do anything without Allah's permission then that thing is a god for the one who believes such a thing.

21. Even a hungry wolf will not eat you unless and until Allah doesn't wish.

22. The nur of iman shows a man that success is in amaal and not in asbaab.

23. Hidayah comes after talab. Talab is also granted by Allah. However, the means of talab (wanting) are adopted by man himself. We adopt the means ourselves and this is called free will. The result is in the hands of Allah. To sow the seed and to cultivate the land is in the hands of man. However, the growth of crops is in the hands of Allah. The means are only empty structures. Like one's reflection in the mirror. It is Allah who makes the means effective or ineffective. When one adopts the means of deen then Allah grants both dunia and akhirah no matter what. However, there is no guarranttee that we will get dunia while we adopt the means of dunia.

24. Hidayah or darkness is in the hands of Allah. Insan only adopts the means. The means of hidayah lead one to hidayah (light). While the means of darkness lead one to darkness. The last decision is in the hands of Allah. However, whoever will sincerely wish for hidayah and will adopt the means of hidayah will definitely be granted the nur of hidayah by Allah and whoever will wish darkness and will adopt the means of darkness then also he will be granted darkness by Allah.
Through material means there is no promise of dunia. However, through the actions of deen both dunia and akhirah are guarranteed by Allah.

25. Summary of a bayan of Haji Sahab Rh...

The acceptance of actions is dependant on five factors.

a. Mujahida
b. Khushoo (Humility, focus, devotion)
c. Concentration
d. Deep reflection
e. Sincerity

Strong belief on La ilaha illallah. Actions according to the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAWS. If one ignores the sunnah then one's actions will be rejected.

Without halal rizq, all the actions are rejected. Ilm is not enough. Iman is also necessary. Without Yaqeen (conviction) ilm is useless because ilm is for acting upon.

We have to mold our belief according to the ilm. The purpose of ilm is to correct the direction and application of our actions.

Iblees is our enemy and he wants to destroy our actions.

I will not get sustenance from job and material means but through good actions and the obedience of Allah and His Messenger SAWS.

Rizq, poverty, honour, humiliation, happiness, sorrowness, everything descends from the heavens. The worldly means are nothing but illusion. It is Allah who is the doer and he does with his qudrat.

The kind of actions you send up above result in the decisions made by Allah about your reality.

In order to understand deen you need to move. You can't understand the deen while remaining static. Travel around the world and give dawah to everyone.

Only do actions for the sake of Allah's happiness. Only dawah according to rules will be effective otherwise it will be useless.

Dawah is the food of rooh from which yaqeen is generated. Yaqeen brings reality and substance in a'maal.
Ilm is that light which directs actions to the correct application.

Without yaqeen the a'maal lose their essence and without ilm a'maal become bogus.

26. The homes of Sahaba RA were filled with a'maal instead of things. On the other hand, our homes are filled with things instead of a'maal.

27. Things are body while the deen is soul. If there is no deen then the things are dead bodies. Without deen, the more things you have the more worried you will be.

28. It is because of the misuse of mobile phones that daily more than 100 jamaats depart while only 7 or 8 jamaats return with recruits.

29. Summary of another bayan of Haji Sahab...

. Quran is the noor of Allah.
. When a person is obedient to Allah then the nur of hidayah descends upon his heart.
. This nur is attained by the a'maal of masjid.
. The effort of gaining matter prevents one from the attainment of nur of hidayah.
. Dawah generates the nur of iman and yaqeen.
. Through iman one attains sincerity and power in one's actions.
. The more iman one has, the more powerful one's a'maal will become and the more speedy Allah's decisions will be in one's favour.

I'd be interested in who this reliable personality is that suggests engaging in idle talk can eventually lead to Kufr?

Here's my own pseudo philosophical take on this:

Every act we perform either leads us closer to Allah swt or away from Him, correct? If we persist in any act that takes us away from Allah swt, what is farthest we can go?
