We should avoid everything. Universities, internet, mobile phone, markets, schools. Nothing is safe from fitnah. We have no other choice but to isolate ourselves.

I don't know what to think of this. Are we stating haq or doing gheebah. Will Allah reward us or punish us for this. I am confused here. Why are our akabireen being careless and endangering the iman of all? Are the living ulema trustable or should we rely on the books of dead ulema? Should we stick to non famous ulema because mostly famous ulema are falling in error? Should we care about our own salahs and fundamental amaal and leave everything else? Now this is problematic. I am really frustrated. It was such a beautiful work.

I guess I have to leave this forum some day. I am not worthy of posting anything.

DIY approach is dangerous and knowledgeable + pious muftis are rare. As the time passes the truth is being clouded. To prevent Hazrat Worship should we leave all the hazrats or should we do something else? Why did I open this thread? It has disturbed me a lot. I am saddened. Maybe emotions have overwhelmed some of our akabireen.

I have alhamdulillah come out of these exact same emotions you are having now. To put it bluntly , ditch all the scholars who you see on facebook youtube etc. Find out in your area those buzurgs who in the words of dr76 are hidden gems and latch on to them for lifetime.
The buzurgs who are treading on the path of our elders are not active online or having celebrity status. They are relatively unknown usually in remote villages.
Go ahead and enquire offline. Most probably ask dr76 for help.

Assalamu alaikum

There's no doubt that we are living in times of fitnah but we are so lucky that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم has left clear guidance for us.

Narrated Usama bin Zaid:

Once the Prophet (ﷺ) stood over one of the high buildings of Medina and then said (to the people), "Do you see what I see?" They said, "No." He said, "I see afflictions falling among your houses as rain drops fall."

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As:

When we were around the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), he mentioned the period of commotion (fitnah) saying: When you see the people that their covenants have been impaired, (the fulfilling of) the guarantees becomes rare, and they become thus (interwining his fingers). I then got up and said: What should I do at that time, may Allah make me ransom for you? He replied: Keep to your house, control your tongue, accept what you approve, abandon what you disapprove, attend to your own affairs, and leave alone the affairs of the generality.

It is a dilemma we need to think over !

Such people don't come to Masjid and our Uluma are not supposed to enter their halls and their meetings.Who will invite them to Allah and his mercy, who will try to save them from hellfire, who will tell them about the never ending pleasure of Jannat ?

Are we implying that our preachers are supposed to keep themselves limited to their comfort zones, talk only to pious listeners, give lectures on familiar topics, try to convince and re-convince those who are already convinced ?

......and those poor souls, the one,s who don't know the reality, those away from Din, must remain condemned to their ignorance forever because we think it is against the grace and taqwa of a scholar to go to such unholy places to invite them to Allah and to Jannat....

That Allah swt will accept them back into the fold of His Rahma, whenever they turn back to him, before they breath their last, should be of no consequence to us ? If our brothers are suffering from cancer, some of our best doctors should abandon them to a painful death ?

Assalamua'laikum

I am amazed at the thought process of some brothers. Are you guys for real ? You are so adamant in your belief that for a moment I am feeling a sinner by supporting Moulana Tariq Jamil or Mufti Tariq Masood for their online videos.

Ok, let me put this way, I used to travel alot for my business trips and used to stay in various hotels. Since i was always alone I used to watch lot of TV like national geographic or animal planet to kill bore dom. Though I was a fan of Tariq Jamil but not to the extent to listen his speeches every day.

Once I was discussing with my friend about how I am watching TV and I have to change this habit, he told me to listen to Mufti Tariq Masood. I really liked his concept and way of presentation and starting listening to him. Gradually I was so interested in his topics that I stopped watching TV. now though I don't listen to him so much, but I have left the habit of watching TV

Now as you say we need to go and find some mashaik offline. It's good for you pious people, who have stamina and sacrifice to do all those things. What about we sinners, who find difficult to even leave our sins, why would we go and find some pious person, when Shaitan is so enforced on us. We see this online scholars as a blessing and pray for barakah in their lifes for keeping we online sinners away from sin. Hope I could make my point.

JazakAllah
MFaiz

Does that mean that Ulama should start compromising the teachings of Islam for the sake of 'greater good'? If they are visiting such events, they should at least inform the attendants about the unIslamic aspects involved, otherwise their silence will be taken as their endorsement. [Please note that I'm not referring to Maulana Tariq Jameel Sahab or this particular event; I'm speaking in general terms.]

A good doctor will treat their cancer or at least will warn them about the consequences of leaving it untreated. He will not start narrating the fadhail of cancer.

Now this situation is very complicated. I guess we should take inspiration from brothers like Abdur Rehman who usually don't talk about personalities but concepts. We must do what we have already correctly understood and leave the ulema on their own. Allah will deal with them according to their intentions. Just stop listening to those whom you don't trust but also don't condemn them in public. Leave the warning part to Muftis who understand shariah better than us and if Muftis themselves become corrupt then leave their affairs to Allah. What else can we do? If you have a better approach then share with me.

I agree with the sisters post after yours.

Here's what could be done:

A scholar is invited to X, X will host additional stuff too. Anything the scholar is aware of of the additional stuff, he could've simply said, "Before I attend, let me host you. You be my guest first" After inviting them over and giving them Dawah, the scholar can easily ask them if it would be wise for him to attend, furthermore, would it be wise for them to invite him? Would it be wise for them to partake? Would it be wise to go ahead with the function?

The reality is, we have lost our wisdom!

Did this happen? I doubt it.

Instead, it appears everyone one was well aware!

When we ask Ulama questions on why we can't go to Christmas parties or greet them etc, the Ulama turn the tables and counter question us with wisdom. Why can't the same happen to such gatherings and invites. Why can't the Ulama turn the tables?

Aren't we being a bit too harsh and judgmental here? Maulana is also a human, after all, not an angel. He can also make a mistake. Being a human of a bigger status than ours, his mistakes are also bound to be more monumental than ours. Does that mean we should carry this over his head for ever? Let's have a little patience and see if Maulana offers any explanation for his participation or admits his mistake. Maybe someone should ask him.

I met A R Rahman once in a London mosque car park, although we did make eye contact before going into the car park.

I knew who he was but I didn't give him any attention. I carried on with stuff. (Of course I'm no celebrity that I would need to make conversation, nor am I a fan) From all the celebs that I have seen or made eye contact with, it was like they were seeking that attention they are so used to. When they don't get it, I think their Dopamine levels drop and they feel ignored.

Anyways, I got into my vehicle ready to drive off, A R Rahman came up-to me, knowing that I did recognize him. He came, he did salaam etc. Then he asked if my surname was so and so, I said yes and I asked how he knew. He said he saw my ID which was hanging in the vehicle.

He then introduced himself to me. He said his name was Allahrakha Rahman. I told him I knew who he was, but I never knew what the A R stood for, anyways, he could tell I wasn't bothered. He asked me a few questions about myself, I asked what he was doing in London and he simply said he had meetings in Scotland.

And that was the end of that.

I was hoping my reaction and attitude towards him was a form of dawah too. I was polite to him but I didn't talk to him about his music etc, I left it for him to ponder over why/how I knew him and why I wasn't bothered.

That was the most pleasant sentence of an otherwise very grim thread :)

Everyone makes mistakes.

Most mistakes are done unknowingly and they are overlooked by the masses.

Some mistakes are carried out unintentionally, they are also overlooked by the masses.

But some mistakes that could happen are apparent and they could be avoided....I think that's the difference!

These aren't overlooked, these are talked about and criticized.

We make a mistake, we try and rectify it by not repeating it. But once we do it and find it to be normal or accepted, then it becomes practice and then customary!
