But joking aside you are right. The devil is no longer seen as the epitome of evil. You can buy cute cuddly toys that look like the depiction of the devil. I think it's a quote from a movie, but it's very relevant. 'The greatest trick the devil pulled is to convince people he doesn't exist.' The devil is seen as just a fictional character. So now people no longer have their guard up against the devil and his waswasah.
