In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

Shaykhul-Islam Mufti Taqi Usmani (HA) in a talk given during Ramadhan advised Muslims to recite a Dua and attributed it to the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihe Wassallam).

He received a letter enquiring about its authenticity to which a reply was given:

The interesting thing is that, Shaukat Ali, who wrote the letter, isn't even an aalim himself.

This is just one of the hundreds of incidents, of Hazrat's humbleness. I have written a book, with many such incidents.

This is the absolute essence of greatness; one has to go through immense mujahadah, subdue his Nafs, bring humility, get rid of Takabbur and Ujub and Riya, and then Allah elevates him. And this is not possible unless one stays in the company of a Shaykh, who is kaamil.

The world calls him Shaykhul Islam. There is a reason behind it.
