Asalamu alaikum

For jumua, the khutba is before the salah, hence we have a bayan before the khutba and salah

For eid the khutba is after salah. Those that give khutba in other languages besides Arabic have no need for a bayan before salah. Arabic speaking congregations also have no need for a bayan before salah.

I am seeing all of the posters for Deobandi eid salahs and most of them have a bayan before the salah. Is there any reason for this?

Why not have the bayan after a short khutba?

1) This is more in line with the format of eid.

2)Having the bayan before the salah means you have to worry about keeping your wudu longer.

3) Many people come late and in time for the salah , so they miss the bayan or just come at the end.

I prefer when the bayan follows the khutba, as you can go to the place of prayer, pray the eid salah and then sit down comfortably and listen attentively to the khutba and bayan. I think in this way more people can benefit and be inspired by the khutba and bayan.

It's because Eid Salah is just after sunrise, so the Masjid's offer their jamaat and then give a short talk whilst they wait, then perform the Salah.

What's wrong with that?

Previously, Jummah was also like that, i.e. Khutbah after the Salah, but due to late comers and the importance of the Khutbah, it was moved to needle the Salah!

People would be up for Fajr, most would/should be in the Masjid's anyway, so what's the issue?

Or have I misunderstood you

I recall the sunnah being along the lines of performing the fajar salah in the masjid , then proceed to the eid gah after sunrise. Correct me if I am wrong.

Is this how it is done in the UK? The people remain at the masjid after fajr and then performed eid?

This isn't the case in other places. Fajr is actually performed earlier than normal, then people go home and get ready and go back for eid salah. Salah is almost an hour after sunrise. So your point wouldn't be applicable to that scenario.

Are you saying that the original sunnah was for the khutba to be after Jumua? When did it move to before Jumua? Can we chose when we want to do it now, or is the sunnah that it must be done before?

Yes, in the UK we don't really have many options for Eid Salah.

Yes, the Jummah Khutbah was changed to accommodate the Muslim's. This change was made in the early years, it's not recent. (I heard it from Mufti Saeed Ahmed Palanpuri over 20 years ago.
